Very true rad, heck, get the patch, have Nicotrol be a sponsor, and make your quitting smoking one of the focal points of the trip!

I think all the public exsposure will help us stick to it. we really do need to quit and its been a thing for a long time with us that we were going to but this just gave us a really good excuse(as if we needed one) I never thought about getting a patch as a sponsor????!! but its an idea.

RE: The Eastern Continental Memorial Hike
I met those kids in Damascus there a nice bunch. Our hike is going along very nice now with a lot more sponsors .(just about all new gear) we have been able to save some money now that our daughter is renting our house and things are looking a lot better. Bill and I set up at the fair last week and took about 30 pledges for the American Cancer Society. I think this is going to raise them lots of money. we have been approched to do a TV deal called Radical Sabaticals airing this next year but nothing final yet. it is the same people that own Home and Garden TV and Food Cities Network so we will see what happends.Bill and I have been working out a lot lattly trying to get ready to leave. We will be on TV monday night on Live at 5 on chanell 10. we have made the front page of three newspapers now with full page articles. its been fun so far but were very busy here.Smoking getting under control here, so far so good

RE: The Eastern Continental Memorial Hike
I got out the itinerary and March 6 is schedualed to be in Damascus. Now keep in mind we have a lot of hiking to do before we ever get there so things may end up changing a day or two. keep a watch on our web site and we will have our journal on there so everyone will know excatly where we are all the time. also,I want to let everyone know that things are going very well, were pretty much ready except for shoes right now.were going to start out with New Balance walking shoes in Florida then change into boots latter in the year when it starts to cool down. were right now packing mail drops and getting very excited . so far we have been on the entire front pages of 4 newspapers. 2 inside stories, and 2 times on TV. we also have a man talking to us about a half hour TV show called radical sabaticals that will be airing this fall. we have collected over 3000 dollars in pledges for the American Cancer Society so far and we havent even left yet. so I think things are going real good, just takeing to long to leave IM READY TO GET OUT OF HERE.P.S. we also have a person building us a new web site but its not done yet so well keep you posted on that too.I will also be on here as much as possible to keep you updated on things. we really hope to get to meet a lot of you on this trip. we leave here Sept 23rd on the bus for Fort Lauderdale where my parents live then start hiking oct 1st from Key West.
