Your dream job?View MessagesYour dream job? “This discussion came up at work yesterday. Odds are you are not working at your dream job. (That?s really cool if you are!!) If you could have any job in the world?what would it be? I would like to be a chef at a remote mountain resort in the Amazon.” 9:12:05 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Fashion police!” 9:17:22 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “LOL at MadRiver! Most anything that has to do w/ the outdoors. My boyfriend and I have always talked about running a campground... TENTS ONLY. I would get to spend a lot of time outside and in a scenic area.” 9:22:49 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “BB stacker for the Daisey Air Rifle Co.” 9:29:41 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Part 2 of the question... How different is your dream job from your current job?” 9:31:55 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I had a temporary job that was as good as I could ask for. I worked in Nova Scotia and went to people's homes to interview them about their life history and stuggles with stress, loss and mental illness (if any) as part of a long standing study. It was a long term study and the participants respected the study, were invested in it and were paid well for their time. I was paid fantastically (about 5 times my regular salary), treated with kindness and respect by my employer. Every once in a while, my boos would tell me that I deserved more money or better quarters. The land was beautiful, the people were marvelous and the interviews were incredible. People actually enjoyed letting me into their lives and thanked me for the way I treated them. All my expenses were paid. I was 100 yards from a mountain bike trail in one direction and from the ocean (a cove) in another. It was also very meaningful work. It was part of an important and high quality psychiatric study that been going on for 50 years and was run jointly through Harvard Medical School and Dalhousie (spelling? a university in Halifax). The only problem was that it was a research project that lasted only 4 months. When it was done, I returned to my regular job (which had given me a leave of abscence).” 9:48:48 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I would like to have the job of putting the pork in pork and beans.” 10:50:14 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Brewmeister” 10:55:30 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Bikini barber.” 10:59:42 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I wish I was the girl who cooks and cleans for ranch hands. You get to run a household about 2 or 3 miles from the main house, live in a quiet area, and look at cute cowboys. It's like being a housewife, but w/out having to put up w/ a husband. I once had a job kind of similar to this and it was alot of fun. Hungry, tired ranch hands are really appreciative of some decent grub.” 11:12:23 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “The San Francisco Zoo has an elephant named Calle who has a chronic illness, requiring medication. The zoo people couldn't get Calle to take her dose orally, so a California pharmacologist developed a suppository. The 10-inch long, four pound, cocoa butter bullets are crafted by the good folks at Guittard Chocolates in Burlingame. Administering the daily medication takes five zoo workers, including one person to distract Calle with treats and one person who wears a full-arm glove. Any of the above five jobs would be awesome with ?the glove guy? being my absolute dream job.” 11:29:47 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Retired and collecting a fat pension. Then I could spend every day doing what I want instead of what my employer wants. My ultimate life goal is to outlive my pension and become a burden to the taxpayers ;)” 11:46:08 AM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I want to get a job like the one those two guys in the movie "Dumb and Dumber" missed at the end of the movie Yeah that's right, something where a guy has a future. I want to be the Oil Boy in the traveling Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest show.” 12:23:59 PM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I'm living it. The only other thing I might consider is independantly wealthy traveler.” 12:37:13 PM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I'd like to make reproductions of antique funiture in my own shop. I'd need to be independantly wealthy first because I wouldn't want the pressure of needing to sell the stuff. I would also need lots of dough so I could afford a shop with all the neat toys, I mean tools, that Norm has on the Yankee workshop.” 1:05:57 PM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Being a professor at a teaching university (as opposed to a "research" university) is pretty darn close. If I could figure out how to get backpacking and skiing into the equation, I would be covered. This is worth mentioning: My son took three SCUBA courses here at the university. The instructor is retiring after 30 years of teaching SCUBA. He got to dive all around the world for practically free (avg. 300 dives/year) because he became very well known in the local SCUBA scene. He told my son he was amazed he was getting paid for SCUBA diving since he didn't consider it a job...just what he loved to do.” 6:01:36 PM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “I think being Matt the Webmaster would be my dream job. That is of course if I could manage the site with a 12 oz solar powered laptop and cell phone modem so I could be on the trail all the time and watch the money roll into my bank account!” 6:36:41 PM 7/06/01 RE: Your dream job? “Man-ho OK, I'm ugly so that's out. Any job that keeps me challenged constantly and extreemly busy. You wouldn't know it to meet me outside of work but I thrive while trying to conrol chaos. If I'm almost in over my head and swimming hard I'm actually having fun. When I was running a kitchen and a key person didn't show up things would get totally crazy. Occasionally while trying to keep the group panic under control and the patrons oblivious to the problem I would literally start laughing with joy. It would unsettle some of the workers but I just love containing the whirlwind. Sometimes I make the wrong choice but I'll just fix that on the fly too. Lucky for me people are willing to pay good money for a person that makes a choice in a heartbeat and doesn't worry if people get upset about it. Now I need a job that rewards these qualities AND satisfies my wanderlust.” 8:37:41 PM 7/07/01 RE: Your dream job? “I'd like to work for Coleman as a tester for Peak 1 gear. That'd be cool.” 11:46:48 PM 7/07/01 RE: Your dream job? “Anonymous bed and breakfast inn inspector for an international guidebook company, with side work checking out wilderness lodges for Orvis.” 1:53:29 AM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “I'd love to get paid to count the mountain goat population of the Canadian Rockies... Aside from that, I'd have to say that my current job as an EMT on an ambulance is pretty close to perfect! Oh yeah, the whole Army thing rocks too...” 2:18:01 AM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “I like my job. Been at it 22 years. It allows me to play on the weekends. But ... if I could, I would do what Mel does” 2:48:57 AM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “Snow Nymph - What do you do?” 2:59:30 AM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “I'm a secretary - I work for a big aerospace company.” 12:50:52 PM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “I would have to say I'm one of the rare ones that concider there job a dream job. I work at my old high school in the theater department. I run the auditorium, which allows me to interact with a very wide range of people. We have had groups come in like the author Avi, performance groups like The National Theater and Barriage. Not to mention the 45-60 events that go on normally during the year. I work a lot during the school year, but it gives me 6 weeks off at summer time the relax and spend time with my family (and cough,, cough.. backpack). I have had a tough road to get were I'm at now, and though the money isn't the best, I wouldn't change it for the world. Really!” 1:02:08 PM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “human resources taste tester for Hooters.” 10:30:14 PM 7/08/01 RE: Your dream job? “Lap dance tester at the Gold Club!
