Mt Baker hike
It is that time again for me to plan where to take a hiking group in Sept. We have done Skyline Divide and most of the Ann Lake trail (too much snow at the lake before). I am assuming the lesser snowpack this past winter will give us better access to the higher elevations? Does anyone here have some favorite hikes in this area. We are coming from Vancouver (Canada) and found some hikes on the east and south sides are pushing it for time. Please suggest!

RE: Mt Baker hike
I've done the "Chain Lakes Loop" trail. It is a beautiful hike. There is no tree coverage, so it's best done on a cooler cloudy day. The trail is 2.5 miles beyond the Mt. Baker Ski area. It's a fairly easy hike, except for one small part.

I've heard the Heliotrope Ridge is a beautiful trail. It's rated as being difficult, but it's only 4.5 hrs of hiking, 6.5 miles.

If you need more info, let me know.

P.S. - I'm not sure what area these hikes are located around Mt. Baker. Try www.trails.com for info on these hikes. There might also be a contact number there.
