RE: Ohio Folks
an alternate route for anyone coming in from the north would be to exit off of I70 at state route 56 south (exit number 72)....stay on 56 all the way to 278....turn right and you are there....the advantage of this route is that you would miss out on all the wonderful columbus traffic as well as the huge bottleneck in lancaster....i can vouch for the fact that it is a pleasant country drive with very little traffic....

RE: Ohio Folks
Wolfsister My mom is entirely against solo hiking, so I cant just up and say Im going hiking, And she is even more against internet meeting. She has no clue about Trail Talk. The last time I met people, me and roomate just said we were going hiking. It worked well. But I cant pull a solo, because I am forbidden to do solo. And I just got my schedule for work and they scheduled me even though it is not my weekend to work. Oh well.

I didn't realize you were still under the athourity of your parent(s). You did the right thing. Wish I could meet your Mom so she would know you are safe hiking with us. It's sad parents have to be so careful all the time( I know I am!).

I am 23. Which I know is old enough to not listen to my mom and often I dont. But I need to respect her wishes at least for now. I really want to go. But now I have to work too, so there is no possible way. Plus a huge drive. I am all about adventure, but sometimes a person has to be practical too. If I didnt have to work I could come, because I have another friend who was willing to go. But I have to work. I got to make money.

RE: Ohio Folks
BB - how many miles from C to D? Here is my post from a few days ago. Maybe you can shed some light:

The thread suggests an approximate 3 mile hike on Friday night, a 10 mile hike on Saturday and a 7 mile hike on Sunday.

Buddha mentioned we'd camp at C and D, Friday and Saturday respectively.

I checked out the topo link and am confused... where are we starting? I assumed A, since there is parking there. But the map says it's only 1.8 miles to C. Then only 4.3 miles to D.

What am I missing??? Am I reading something wrong?

RE: Ohio Folks
No, I think my numbers are wrong Tarabull. I was just estimating. as for Saturday, it is 4.3 miles from C to D, but there is a, I believe, 2 mile loop near D, that you could hike if you want to extend the milage.

RE: Ohio Folks
I have a dilemma. I have a very important sales call at 1:00 here in Cleveland on friday, and my business partner (right hand man) is having a surprise birthday party thrown for him on Saturday @ 6:00 in Cleveland. It looks like I'll be down for only one night and 1/2 a day if at all. I can't miss the darn party, the guy has busted his a$$ for our company over the past year, and he attended my party in July. What to do, what to do?

Joy, If you want fast and are traveling late (as in past Columbus rush hour)70 to 270 south bypass to 33 south to St. Rte. 278( in Nelsonville) south about 19 miles. Trailhead lot is on the east side (Hope furance across the road) Sign is on the left side of the road 100 yards from the parking lot. Ohio Magazine Aug 2001.

RE: Ohio Folks
BB "... if at all." ??

I have two choices here. I can be really nice and understanding so as not to make you feel bad if you can't make it.

OR I can lay the guilt trip and tell you that we've been looking forward to seeing you again and would be bummed if you couldn't make it...

What to do, what to do?

Really, though, do what you want to do. Don't stress yourself out either way. If you can't make the trip, we'll understand. If you can't make your friend's party, he'll understand.
