Hank Roberts, Inc. Mark III Mini Stove
Do any of you old timers have a Hank Roberts, Inc. Mark III Mini Stove? I found my old one the other day and was wondering if it was still produced, or if you could still get gas canisters for it, or if there is sometype of conversion kit to adapt it to the new type canisters? I hate to just toss it. It was a good one until the canisters got hard to find.

Gee we have the fuel canisters at my store. Zoe's Mountain Sports.
My partner has one of those stoves so we got the fuel for her.

Barb,
Are those the "rosebud" tip canisters or the new screw-ons?

Budder,
It is a forerunner of the propane/butain stoves. It has a burner head with a wind screen on top, the flame regulator and the hookup for the canister in the middle and a base (sort of like an hour glass). I've used the search engines to try to locate a picture, but have not. It is simple, stable and easy to use, but a little heavier than the new generation. The problem with it has always been getting the fuel canisters. I use to have to order them directly from the stove manufactor but can't find them now. When the new generation of ultra-lite butain/propane stove came out, I guess it knocked them out of the market.

RE: Hank Roberts, Inc. Mark III Mini Stove
I remember those stoves, but I never saw one in action. There's a picture of one in a book I have called Backpacking One Step at a Time by Harvey Manning. It says the stove was made by EFI and marketed under many brand names. They called it a liquid feed stove with an American made cartridge. The cartridges use wicks so there's no drop off in power as the fuel is used up. They say the advantage was the cartridge could be removed from the stove and replaced with no loss of fuel. They also mention another liquid feed stove called the Optimus 731 Mousetrap, but there's no picture of that one. If you can't find fuel for it save it for a collecter.

I have a Hank Roberts Stove. Extremely easy to use and light. Last I looked REI had canisters for it.

I believe there may have been a liability issue with it the gas burner head/stability. It is a cool stove I loved it.

I've since replace this stove with the Snowpeak Giga Power Stove.

Hank Roberts, Inc Mini Stove
I just discovered this page today (3/01/05) and noted all the entries were several years old. I too have a Hank Roberts, Inc Mini Stove. I have used Optimus International (702 LP Gas Fuel) cannisters for the stove. I have not tried to buy one in years, and recently used up my last cannister. Does anyone know if there is a site, on line or off, where they might be purchased?

The Hank Roberts stoves are still marketed, along with a conversion kit to retrofit the needle style stove to accept a threaded canister. The web address is www.camppro.com and can be contacted by email sales@camppro.com

FYI - I went to the link www.camppro.com and the domain is expired. However, I did try to call Andy at 580-554-3611 and got his voice mail. They were closed for the day. I'm Pacific Std time. I will try in am to see if I can still get the fuel from him. This stuff is getting harder and harder to find it seems. It sure is a great little stove.

Smells a tad like spam to me. I opened his link and the first thing I saw was someone in a business suit. WTF? Not exactly a camping/hiking/backpacking feel ya know.
