Stein Valley Report and Pics

“I have put together a report and photo gallery, of my trip to the Stein Valley, last week.

The website itself, is still under major construction, so I have removed some navigation etc., to spare you the dead ends. Naturally, I have run into a couple of glitches, along the 'site building' way and I'll be anxious to know if you run into any problems, or what you think, in general.

Ulitimately (hopefully), the site will sort of resemble what I have done, here.

“Thanks Ski- I'm hoping that someone, with Netscape, will have a look. I've tried it on my daughter's ver 4.05 and had a little problem with silver text and red line, on the photo pages. Hopefully, it's fixed, now.

“Looks great. I liked the shadow effect on the photos on the silver page. My monitor is set at 1,024 by 768 and those photos could be a little bigger but I don't know what it looks like at 800 by 600. They are about 2" by 1.5" for me.

The pictographs must have been cool to see.”

Violin- I would have liked to go bigger, on those pics, but, including the shadow and a narrow border, to blend with the gray, they're already 215 pixels wide.

On my regular pages, there is also a left navigation border, of about 160, so at 600 x 800, the paragraphs would only be twice the width of the pics.

I guess we have to settle a bit, for these old browsers and small monitors. The tough part was testing it on 'dial up'. I'm so spoiled with 'high speed ADSL', even small pages seem to me, like they take forever :-)

Thanks for the great trip report and photos. I have been in the area three times now but unfortunately have not been farther than the cable crossing. It is a magical place especially when you drop down to the river and see those picographs. bc_trailguy do you visit the Hiking BC website? The message board does't get a lot of volume but there is a few active members who are always looking for hiking partners for day and overnight trips. It is found in the MYBC community directory.”

Grew up in Kits and Surrey, so I'm a BC girl at heart! I'd love to do the coffee/beer/hiking thing with you guys, after all it's only 13 hours by car! ;-) So when/where are we going???

“Hmm... The only Blue Mtn, that I know of, is a 'street name' on the six hundred foot hill, that I grew up on. LOL Guess I never really wondered why the hell they called it that!

“Medic Girl- Actually, I grew up a few miles further up- near Mundy Park. But,yes Blue Mtn St runs north from Lougheed Hwy close to the Vancouver Golf Course. I don't remember any stables, though, mostly houses.

Labour Day weekend sounds good- maybe the Sunday. I'll include some info on Golden Ears in the e-mail. Hope you and the kids have a great time!”

“bc_trailguy, just got home from a family camping road trip tonight. We camped at Manning, Rock Creek (Kettle Valley) and three nights at Christina Lake. Had great weather and lots of swimming. Monday mornign I am off to Manning for 4 days camping with work (teens) but I am up for a hike in "your backyard". I will try to drop you a line tomorrow as you may not see this message since it has been off the radar for a few days.

“Sounds good HH- I was up to Manning, today with a group, for a dayhike on the Skyline. Turned out to be a fairly nice day.

It was pretty busy around the lodge, being the weekend. But, I'm sure most of the 'mo ho's will clear out, by tomorrow. Have a good trip!”
