Stein Valley Report and Pics “I have put together a report and photo gallery, of my trip to the Stein Valley, last week. The website itself, is still under major construction, so I have removed some navigation etc., to spare you the dead ends. Naturally, I have run into a couple of glitches, along the 'site building' way and I'll be anxious to know if you run into any problems, or what you think, in general. Ulitimately (hopefully), the site will sort of resemble what I have done, here. Link Enjoy, Hodgeman” 2:12:50 AM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Great trip report. I enjoyed being able to look at the appropriate pic with your narrative. Sounds like you had a good time with the exception of the heat and bugs.” 9:21:47 AM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Thanks Ski- I'm hoping that someone, with Netscape, will have a look. I've tried it on my daughter's ver 4.05 and had a little problem with silver text and red line, on the photo pages. Hopefully, it's fixed, now. Thanks, again” 12:18:40 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Very nice, bc. Reports like yours are one of the things I hang out here for. I can feel may blood pressure drop and heartbeat slow when I look at those pics and read your text. I can almost smell and feel the air. If I can't be there, it's nice to hear about it and see it. Thank you.” 1:37:25 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Very nice pics. I would also echo arclite's comments about apreciating you posting them here for us to see. The website looks good too and I hope you'll keep developing it for all to see.” 2:49:23 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Thanks, for the comments, guys. At the rate I'm going, it may be Fall before the website's ready. I just wanted to test a few things, before I load up the content. I'm glad everything looks OK.” 4:54:53 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “BC..great report. I loved the pictures, esp the one of the falls..felt like I could just jump in that water and cool off.. Great job!!” 11:40:04 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Well done!! I tried it on Netscape Navigator 4.0 and it was still excellent.” 11:50:51 PM 7/17/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Great report. Thanks for taking the considerable time and effort to put forth what you did.” 12:49:20 AM 7/18/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Awesome trip report! Well done display.” 2:14:54 AM 7/18/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Looks great. I liked the shadow effect on the photos on the silver page. My monitor is set at 1,024 by 768 and those photos could be a little bigger but I don't know what it looks like at 800 by 600. They are about 2" by 1.5" for me. The pictographs must have been cool to see.” 10:43:13 AM 7/18/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Thanks to everyone, for the kind reviews. Violin- I would have liked to go bigger, on those pics, but, including the shadow and a narrow border, to blend with the gray, they're already 215 pixels wide. On my regular pages, there is also a left navigation border, of about 160, so at 600 x 800, the paragraphs would only be twice the width of the pics. I guess we have to settle a bit, for these old browsers and small monitors. The tough part was testing it on 'dial up'. I'm so spoiled with 'high speed ADSL', even small pages seem to me, like they take forever :-) Thanks again for taking the time, ...Hodgeman” 11:24:01 AM 7/18/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Wow! I'd love to go there. Thanks for turning me on to the locale! And nice write up!” 2:53:09 PM 7/18/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “BC, beautifully written trip report and amazing photography! I've never been to the Stein Valley before... now I'll have to go! :o)” 1:19:01 PM 7/21/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “bc_trailguy, Thanks for the great trip report and photos. I have been in the area three times now but unfortunately have not been farther than the cable crossing. It is a magical place especially when you drop down to the river and see those picographs. bc_trailguy do you visit the Hiking BC website? The message board does't get a lot of volume but there is a few active members who are always looking for hiking partners for day and overnight trips. It is found in the MYBC community directory.” 2:41:38 PM 7/21/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “I'm glad you enjoyed the page, Thanks. Could it be true, Medic Girl? Are we not alone up here in the 'Great White West'? Hey Hammock Hanger- where ya from? You must be local, if you found the Stein three times :-)” 3:00:48 PM 7/21/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “bc_trailguy, I live in Richmond and work for a community centre in Vancouver. All three trips I was guiding our youth program participants. Where do you rest your hat?” 2:17:26 AM 7/22/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “HH - I'm out in PoCo. Let's see where Medic Girl pops up and maybe we can do a TT hike- B.C. style. How about my backyard, since you have no mountains, of your own :-) Drop me an e-mail. We could hook up for a beer / coffee sometime. hodgeman@telus.net” 12:40:57 PM 7/22/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “LOL you guys! I'm a 'flatlander' too HH...living in the(not so) great city of 'champeens'... or is that 'chumps'(Edmonton AB)? Grew up in Kits and Surrey, so I'm a BC girl at heart! I'd love to do the coffee/beer/hiking thing with you guys, after all it's only 13 hours by car! ;-) So when/where are we going??? So BC... is Blue Mtn 'really' a mountain? :-D” 6:29:34 PM 7/22/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Hmm... The only Blue Mtn, that I know of, is a 'street name' on the six hundred foot hill, that I grew up on. LOL Guess I never really wondered why the hell they called it that! Anytime's good for coffee /beer, at least! Do you know what dates you'll be in town?” 12:50:46 AM 7/23/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “bc, nice site, with nice pics.” 1:50:20 AM 7/23/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “You grew up on Blue Mountain? Too funny!! I have a friend who owns a stable up there... haven't talked to her in years though... We are talking about the same road, right? The one that goes past what used to be a garden centre from the highway(that IS still the Lougheed Hwy, right)? I'll be in town 29 Aug to 3 Sept, but promised the kids I'd camp with them, so... the weekend probably works best... :o) I'll be lookin' for that e-mail you promised... ;-)” 2:18:40 AM 7/23/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Medic Girl- Actually, I grew up a few miles further up- near Mundy Park. But,yes Blue Mtn St runs north from Lougheed Hwy close to the Vancouver Golf Course. I don't remember any stables, though, mostly houses. Labour Day weekend sounds good- maybe the Sunday. I'll include some info on Golden Ears in the e-mail. Hope you and the kids have a great time!” 10:35:44 AM 7/23/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Oh and thanks, Lipstick. Have you been to the Stein, at all? Not that far, for you. It would be worth the drive.” 10:54:00 AM 7/23/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “bc_trailguy, just got home from a family camping road trip tonight. We camped at Manning, Rock Creek (Kettle Valley) and three nights at Christina Lake. Had great weather and lots of swimming. Monday mornign I am off to Manning for 4 days camping with work (teens) but I am up for a hike in "your backyard". I will try to drop you a line tomorrow as you may not see this message since it has been off the radar for a few days. Hammock Hanger” 5:34:51 AM 7/29/01 RE: Stein Valley Report and Pics “Sounds good HH- I was up to Manning, today with a group, for a dayhike on the Skyline. Turned out to be a fairly nice day. It was pretty busy around the lodge, being the weekend. But, I'm sure most of the 'mo ho's will clear out, by tomorrow. Have a good trip!” 9:59:49 PM 7/29/01
