Can anybody tell me why the Eureka Polar Storm XT tent was discontinued?
It appears better than all their 2001-2002 expedition tents that they now offer. i.e. thicker floors(10,000 vs. 3000) Poles 9.5 vs. 8.5 rainfly 2000 vs. 1800, etc...

I want to buy one, but don't know if ther are any flaws. Great price on this what appears to be an awsome tent.

Please stop me if i'm wrong!!!

Thanks

RE: Eureka Tents
Stop - everybody here knows that the NASCAR brand tents are the best, and don't get snookered buying a Dale tent, word has it they slapped a #3 on all the non-selling tents just to move them. Try a Hut Strickland model, or Dick Trickle (if you're into that kind of thing)

Seriuosly, I have a NorthFace Tent, my old Eureka tent started falling aprt after 4 years, so I don't like their products. I am sure some in here do and will give you the info. you need.

RE: Eureka Tents
I've had a Eureka Timberline 2 person for 15 years..still going strong, shock poles and all. They have moderized it a bit, to make it lighter, but basically it's the same. I seam seal it every now and again and it has really held up well. I would not hesitate to buy another Eureka product. Sure wish they made a one person Timberline model....

RE: Eureka Tents
I bought a Eureka Apex last year and one of the poles cracked after only two trips. I've got the vertical crack patched with tape but that pisses me off.

Also the Apex is heavy, don't know about the Polar Storm.

RE: Eureka Tents
Buddha Bear,
What do you mean by NASCAR tent?
Do Eureka tents fit
that catagory? Why?
Sorry if I sound dumb!

RE: Eureka Tents
I was just joking kumaface, there may be such a thing as a NASCAR tent, just like the "Bud Light" tent I saw in the store today. Eureka tents are likely much better quality that the aforementioned.

RE: Eureka Tents
Phew,
Thanks for the honest opinions; I,d rather hear something that may be somewhat offensive to some vs. a bias opinion or a lie and buy crap!(The Truth)
Also, have read some of your other posts/comments/antics and I say "Keep it up", your funny!

Thanks again!

RE: Eureka Tents
I own three Eureka tents and they have all been very satisfactory for the niche they were intended for. IMHO they are some of the better values on the market.

They seem to be the main players when it comes to A-frame style tents (which have lost popularity since dome tents came on the scene).

RE: Eureka Tents
I have 3 Eureka tents and swear by them. I have a heavily used 20 yr old Eureka Timberline 4 person that's still going strong, but they were all made in the US of A then. The set-up instructions are hand drwan and mimeographed. I also have a chinese 2 person, can't go wrong for under $100. My brother has the 2 person US made outfitter version, it is bombproof, we use it in the winter every Jan.

Now, I see even the outfitter versions are imported. They still have my loyalty, though.

RE: Eureka Tents
Ten million screaming boy scouts can't be wrong! Eueka! makes a good tent for the price. We've had a two person timberline for almost seven years. Never seam sealed, never been wet in it. Have moved on to the Walrus trekker tarp but that was only because it's lighter.

RE: Eureka Tents
Thanks everybody for taking the time to respond.
At this point, I think Eureka would be a good tent to buy, however I would still love some info on the Polar Storm XT.
Thanks again!
