I think this is good news, not bad. The bear population has grown large enough that the protection is no longer needed.

Hopefully the lifting of the endangered status is indeed because of the health of the species, not because of some aggressive hunter's lobby. Sometimes these things are motivated by politics, not science. (No, I'm not anti-hunting.)

I think some hunting of bears is a good thing.
They need to fear humans.

You got that right..I was told, when asking if hiking the Mission Mountains solo was risky, that around there bears aren't a problem...they run from people because the locals will shoot a problem bear...legal or not...

While hunting would not allowed in Yellowstone or Teton parks

it seems to me to be appropriate for it to not be allowed in adjoining wilderness and roadless area of the national forests

and so hunting would be within the roaded national forest areas and on private land.

Actually, merely allowing ranchers or any landowner to kill problem bears on their own property and leases would be sufficient.

i saw a documentary on this the other day...the endangered species list did it's job...the bears came back very strong and have healthy numbers now...i think that small numbers of them should be hunted now, after all the have no natural enemy

i dont think it is JUST the hunting of the bears. when they are taken off the endangered list it allows their environment to loose the protection as well. so there would be more public access to those areas. and public use would expand to businesses, vehicles, developers etc. it would be in the hands of the states. the states where the grizz lives seem politically controlled by the hunters, atv users, ranchers and businesses, etc, so i think even without actually killing bears the bears loose because their environment looses.
