Hey HOI - St. Mary's is a great place. I've had many a good time there. I lived for a bit in Harrisonburg. Have you spent much time in Ramsey's Draft Wilderness? There are some virgin Hemlocks there that are right big.

Sassafras, the Hitler sign you speak of is paid for by the 3rd largest landowner in Midland (after Dow and Consumers Energy). This particular individual is a developer who has battled the DNR many times over filling in wetlands to develop them (among other things). He's quite a character, and likes to get his way.

Come to Cody, WY on your way to the MT TT hike. We'll go through Sunlight Basin, over Sunlight Bridge. It used to be the talles single span bridge in the world I guess. There used to be a sign that said "No Fishing From Bridge". It must be 200' to the creek.

Along I-90 near Ellensburg is where Stuart Anderson's ranch is. He was the owner of the chain of Black Angus restaraunts, so he had a large sign in his field adjacent to the highway. Every few months, some wiseacre would black out the "G" to make the sign read "Black Anus".

Not far from there is a town in the Yakima Valley called Top#&%!$h. Maybe it's the same sign vandal, but the "H" would every so often get painted over so the sign read Top#&%!$.

Ramsey's Draft is pretty cool. Water can be an issue once you get away from the area's namesake, especially in late summer. But, its not such a large region that you can't plan around that. Basically, the area consists of a ridgeline to the west, with Ramsey's draft in a valley to the east parallel to the ridgeline. This is somewhat of an oversimplification, as there are other areas also. There are plenty of trails and it's pretty easy to plan a loop, or a point-to-point trip. HIKING VIRGINIA'S NATIONAL FORESTS, by Karin Wuertz-Schaefer has good info on the area. If a trip is indeed brewing, let me know, I'd definetly be interested.
