Hey, do you know that guy who burned up the new houses at north mountain park? I ran a trail race there last year and it was a cool place, but burning houses....that's too radical. I was following it in the Phoenix New Times for awhile, but nothings happened for awhile. What's the latest? Do you hang with those guys? It sounds like it was some delinquent mountain bikers, so maybe not.

RE: Bored @ Work
I'm the master at wasting time(look at all the time I kill on TT). Now, you did the first step in my 3-20 step program, wich was read every thread and post on TT. My second step play vidio games, if you don't or can't have any on your puter at work, go to this site and play them on the net with out ever downloading them (www.freearcade.com). I would recomend the game "Battle Tanks, and "Jet slome". If your up for some frisky games check out www.Newgrounds.com. I warene you that some of the games do include nudity and things that your boss would eather laugh at or get reall pissed. third step: read e-mail, instant message people. 4th step:go back to reading TT but this time post something that will piss alot of people off so you can screw with them (that kills lots of time). and then just get a life.

Aero- those guys are super radical Granola freaks

'Granola' is my term for tree-hugging, animal rights activist, nature loving, dirtbike hating, environmental extremists..

don't even get me started, those guys need to get a clue!

RE: Bored @ Work
Earth First! wouldn't even condone it, but ELF was saying "right on, man". The weird thing was that the prime suspect is a middle class baby-boomer with a home near the park. Interesting story, though. We used to have a lot of granolas (Mountain Life Community-Split wood, not atoms) when I was in college in Missoula, but I think it's toned down since then. They've gone mainstream. Anyway, next time i'm in Phoenix I'm doing a run on the Christensen Trail.

RE: Bored @ Work
I met this stupid-middle-class-baby boomer-mid-life crisis-'I work at Petsmart to say the animals' (gee, is not PetsMart a major corporation created to rape the consumer and make money off animals?)-animal rights activist lady a few weekends ago on my fly fishing trip..

She really pissed me off (wouldn't even catch a fish because she said it was hurting them)...after she got done ordering eggs (which she never eats, but was making an exception this once) and telling me what an animal rights activist she was and that she used no animal products whatsoever, we jumped into her Corvette with leather seats! What a F-ing hypocrite!

Ouch, we struck a nerve!! I agree, you have to grow it or mine it, but there's some common ground somewhere. It's Trail Talk! A welcome refuge form the gnashing of teeth and the angst of polar viewpoints. I have to listen to that all day in my real job, so it's not that i'm bored at work; I just go hide out at Trail talk for awhile.

RE: Bored @ Work
Hmmm... do I need photos or what??

Well, I don't wanna give away exactly where I live here. Let's just say it's a small college town not all that far from Minnesota.... and there are tons of granolas!!!

They run a cab company (we're a town of 8,000 -- how many towns of that size have cab companies!!) They started a food coop and the farmers market. One even served on the County Board of Supervisors... when he wasn't protesting spraying for mosquitos after two kids got encephalitis. ETC!!!

Granolas galore!!!! This town and area around it are granola havens!! I dunno why. I even have FRIENDS who are granolas. (shudder!!!!) They can be OK at times.

Well, I live in the real world, not cult-granola ville. We drive cars and shop at stores for food, you know, what 99.9% of America does.

RE: Bored @ Work
Now that I'm back at work, I bored. So, you get on the Christensen trail at Northern and 7th?, I think, or maybe Dunlap. anyway, it was a beautiful trail, lots of rocks and climbs. You get so far back in the park that you forget you're in the middle of town. I used to go to Phoenix through work so much that I joined their running club for a time.

RE: Bored @ Work
I can vouch for lizs' home town being Granola-ville. My step-daughter & I went grocery shopping there while on vacation last month & naively wandered into the "organic & locally produced food co-op." Seeing the items on the shelves inside, I turned to Emma & said, "I don't think we're going to find Spagetti-O's & Hostess Cupcakes here." We quickly escaped & went on to a more conventional grocery store a few blocks away.

Soooooooooo...
Recently our company decided to test a 9-80 work schedule. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, that means you work 80 hours in 9 days. It's essentially 9 hour shifts with every other Friday off and 8 hours on the Friday you do work. The staff is split in half and we alternate Fridays. This is great as every other weekend is a 3 day weekend. Unfortunately, we are an extremely small facility. That leaves me as the only person in my department working today. All the cleaning is already done, there are zero projects in our qeue, and they haven't let us go home early yet. They usually get sick of the boredom themselves by about 2 or 3 and just send us all home. Meanwhile....I am all alone and have nothing to do. HELP!!!

Somebody once posted the URL of a miniature golf game. I don't remember the URL though.

Pick some esoteric subject you've always wanted to explore and type it into Yahoo or some other search engine. You'll kill some time and go home smarter.

Limitations
It's an old Windows '95 'puter (that would be a Pentium I processor). Probably only has 32 megs of RAM. I dare not even visit Phil's Photo page for fear of causing black smoke to billow out of the CPU.

Also, it's on a proxy. All job search sites, personal photo sites, and mapleleaf's Elf Bowling site are restricted (apparently).
