PICTURES - Tomales Pt. - CA

“Myself & Lookingglass once again hooked up with Dunk & his 2 friends. This time we had Pantscandy with us. It's still hard for me to say his name, lol.

We hiked the sandy Tomales Pt. Trail in Pt. Reyes Nat'l Seashore located just north of San Francisco. This is considered the Elk trail, because you pass herds of Elk along the way, which we did. There were too many elk to count.

We found a nice tree to eat lunch under. Then we resumed our trek to the point. Oh no, downhill in sand, you know what that means. We get to the end of the trail, look out on the beautiful coast, then back uphill in the sand. Everyone seemed to handle it much better than I. My face turned a bright red. Other than that, the trail was mostly flat.

Dunk kept a steady face pass back to the beginning of the trailhead. We all followed, and met up together in the parking lot, where we decided to head out to a bar/restaurant for "refreshments". We chatted a while before we parted.

It was fun to see Dunk again. Nobody cursed or kicked one another and there was no bitting. I would say the trip went very well.

“I meant to say Dunk kept a steady pace, not he kept a steady face, but he did keep a steady face, so it's not really like I made a typo.”

“Hey, thanks Steve Hiker. Funny that you meantion telling others about Pantscandy. Dunk never told his friends that we were from some internet site, but they found it. His one friend asked what everyones tt name was, and I said in whispered tones, "that's Pantscandy".

Personally, I tell people I am going on an internet hike, but don't have the b@!!s to mention Pantscandy.

Pantscandy is doing a long hike right now, so he is unavailable for comment. I'll have to revive this when he gets back.”

hikerchic5, he is out hiking somewhere. This is so funny to be talking about him when he is not around to interject, but I only have nice things to say.

We didn't get to speak as much as I would have liked. He has an interesting background as you can see from his hiking trips. I would have liked to talk about that with him. I love to learn about different places.

I would recommend hiking with him. He looks nothing like his picture on tt. He may post a better one when he gets back. Actually, I guess my pics give a better indication of what he looks like. He did mention using my picture with him as his pic on the tt photo page.”

“Thanks for the report and photos! Would love to see elk. I didn't know they were so close to the beach. We pass by fields of elk (near Big Pine) sometimes on the way to the Sierras, but its usually too dark to take pictures.

Isn't Pantscandy on the JMT right now?”

“Looks like it was a fun trip, Lipstick. The area looks pretty windswept. I wince too when I see PC's name. Must be that puritan east coast upbringing. Maybe some other name would be good, like "Sugar Knickers" or "Gummi Shorts". Nah....”

“Snow Nymph, you can see elk from the very beginning to the end of the trail. There were a few babies there too, very cute. Yeah, I think pantscandy did say he was doing the JMT.

“Dunadan, I can see you are from Kansas. I guess you were a visitor like me. That climb up from the point in sand made my face turn beet red as can be seen in the pic of me with LG. I wish I had that area in my backyard.”

Yes, I saw the little yellow flowers and they are pretty and I loved the ones of the elk too.

“Great pics... I spent last weekend at Dillon Beach, just on the other side of Tomales Pt. Then I spent all day Sunday exploring Pt. Reyes. Didn't make it down your trail, but did see the Elk as well. Great place to spend the day! Thanks LH”

Well, I'm back from the JMT. Excellent hike. Got kissed by a huge bear. Zero blisters, no lost toenails and swam every day in alpine lakes. I'll be making a JMT page in the near future with stories and pics.

Actually, Mo never ditched me. My imagination went over board when writing that but some people took it as the truth and sent off some hate mail in her direction. We're actually really good friends. Probably the best hiking partner I have come across to date. (Date as in time, not as in dating but that wouldn't be so bad either).

She's also reading on this site but is too afraid to say hello for fear of being slammed. If she does pipe in... please be gentle with her as she's very insecure and shy. She also has a lazy eye.

Yep, Obi is still having the camp/hike down in Jennie Lakes Wilderness. I suggested he post another thread with the place and dates....he did just tonight. That would be great if you could join us! Then I could tease you in person about that name of yours! I think there are about 5 people going so far according to the other "Obi has a date" thread. So post on the new one if your in!”
