Of course the drum didn't want to slide off...like it's supposed to. So I put the keys in the ignition and put the transmission in neutral so I could turn the drum while pryig on it. Finally, after a loong while of bitching and taking rests, I got the thing off. I put the back on blocks so I could start the engine, put it in gear and get the back wheels turning. Well...I forgot about the keys in the ignition and when I went to start the engine...the battery didn't have enough juice. UGH! Looks like I may need a new wheel bearing...which means I'll have to change both on the back. Dagnabbit! I got friends who bitch about car repair costs. Of course repair shops have the right tools and all...but chit still happens to them too. You can't appreciate spending money to have things repaired...till you try it yourself! Then it all seems worthwhile.” 1:03:01 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Sounds like you need a new key.” 1:05:19 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “....and the point is???” 1:44:42 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “You have no point, Oblio! That is the point!” 1:50:58 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Next time release the parking brake when removing the rear rotors.” 2:02:08 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “You know...I was going to put "Moral of the Story" befor the "I got friends who bitch..." paragraph, but I figured the point would be clear enough for you sharp doods. Guess not! I know better, Mr.bacpac! (the rear has Drums, not Rotors, like most vehicles do)” 2:21:19 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Is there a new rule here at TT? Threads gotta have a point? I've found that creative swearing usually gets stuck parts loose fast.” 2:55:40 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Why does this thread sound like deja vu to me, especially where bacpac gives advise, lol?” 3:02:15 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Why not just put it up on blocks in the front yard and let the weeds grow around it and get yourself a new truck?” 3:49:00 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “I'm surprised bacpac didn't come up with that suggestion.” 3:56:28 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Violin, Undoubtably you are surprised about a lot of things.” 6:37:56 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “You must be tired dude. That was a lame riposte. I've come to expect better of you.” 6:43:04 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “You don't have to have a point to make a point! Oblio.” 6:55:10 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Trail Talk is the Pointless Forest. ”7:04:40 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Every forest needs a troll, thanks violin.” 7:11:48 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “That's better. Coffee, good, ummm.” 7:21:22 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Before you go through all that work Buddur, check the muffler bearings. They are a lot easier and cheaper to fix.” 10:18:50 PM 7/26/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “That Troll, Mr.Violin, doesn't have any...well...male goods. What's he smiling for?” 1:21:31 AM 7/27/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Freedom from desire? I don't know. I'm no expert. Ask bacpac.” 10:50:37 AM 7/27/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “So yer sayin' Mr.bacpac ain't got any male goods either?” 1:59:54 PM 7/27/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Someone help me out. On at least one thread bacpac said "I'm d!ckless". It may have been followed by a question mark once when thrown out as an accusation by someone else, but I'm sure once it was a statement. I can't believe I didn't take a better mental note.” 2:25:27 PM 7/27/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Had to change the thermostat today. While in there (have to take off a consol between the two front seats and middle of dashboard to get to van's engine) I checked the air filter, and sure enough it needed replaced. Fixed a portion of the consol that needed repair. Changed the oil. Rotated the tires. Replaced old shock mounting bolt that rattled. Ended up vaccuuming out the interior and cleaned the windows. Any of you babes wanna go for a ride?” 10:43:56 PM 10/22/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “[famous last words] Hey, I don't need a new van! This one is as good as new now." How long did it take to vaccuum out all the Budder hair? 8)” 10:50:33 PM 10/22/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “OK, you're tall & skinny enough” 10:54:01 PM 10/22/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “Skinny, sure. Tall??? I'm 3'4"...didn't you read the Crocodile post? *Nobody got that humourous remark.*” 11:01:00 PM 10/22/01 RE: Automobile repair.......Ugh! “My VAN's GOT HEAT NOW!!! My heater fan went out on me last spring, all it would do was work on Super-Dooper Johnny-Collossal Atomic Ultra-High heat...not low, medium or high. Changed the resistor at a tune of $15...didn't work. Summer came around and I haven't needed heat, well fall is here and, well, ultra high heat can get, well, hot. Changed the dashboard switch (~$20) two days ago...didn't work. Changed the relay (~$18) yesterday and it fixed the problem. Yaa hoo! Now, any of you babes wanna go for a WARM ride?” 11:09:33 AM 10/26/01 Thanks Mr.Fenderberg! “My new muffler (as of last spring) has a freakin' hole in the bottom of it, and I don't remember bottoming out anywhere in the recent past. Ugh!” 4:41:42 PM 1/08/02 “Dude, time to get a new car.” 4:45:09 PM 1/08/02 “Here's one for ya ! After 2 months of BS last summer, trying to replace the full, hard doors, stolen from my Jeep Wrangler. Someone stole them again last night. Arrrrrrrgh!!!” 4:57:24 PM 1/08/02 “I changed a tail light on my car, the gas struts for the hatchback and then replaced the valve cover gasket this weekend. I used $100 in parts and avoided at least $200 in labor costs.. Thanks to Chilton's...lol TexWW” 5:36:47 PM 1/08/02 “Auto repair is the best reason to keep a good job. I hate it and willingly pay for the service.” 5:42:39 PM 1/08/02 “After posting this morning to TT and leaving the office for a few sales calls...i decided to remodel my car. Note to all..Explorers ROLL like a fat man down a steep hill!! Who needs a car when you can hike eh?...time to take these pretty pills...” 6:28:42 PM 1/08/02 bye bye Christmas bonus “I spent $200 bucks on registration 2 weeks ago and then this week I spent $375 on new front shocks! Everyone way good bye to all my Christmas money :( .” 6:34:56 PM 1/08/02 “Hey OPIE, did you for real have a rollover accident today? Man, I had one once. There is NOTHING scarier!!! I'm glad you're alive and I hope you're ok. Of course, the drugs are nice. LOL!” 6:37:12 PM 1/08/02 “I got gas.” 6:43:26 PM 1/08/02 “I Farted.” 6:49:06 PM 1/08/02 “Buddur, any warranty? I wont do an exhaust system myself. It costs hardly anymore to pay someone plus you get a warranty. I hate working on cars but have gotten pretty good out of necessity.” 6:52:36 PM 1/08/02 “Just duct tape it shut” 6:57:27 PM 1/08/02 “is this the buddur-bus?” 8:39:17 PM 1/08/02 Blinker Fluid 9:00:34 PM 1/08/02 “Great site uprock, here is a link to the home page: Kalecoauto But I can't find the page to place and order?!” 9:05:08 PM 1/08/02 Baby Got New Brakes “Replaced the front rotors, wheel bearings and brake pads on my van today...8) Sure wish I could drive it...8(” 4:38:23 PM 10/08/02 “How much longer, Buddur?” 4:39:50 PM 10/08/02 1/3rd Of The Way There “4 months” 4:43:22 PM 10/08/02 “Sorry Buddur. :( If you can find your way to NJ, you can ride to Maine with me.” 4:50:27 PM 10/08/02 Dag Freakin' Nabbit “My van had a grinding noise in the rear end and I pulled and checked the drums brakes, checked the rear end gear oil, used a vehicle stethascope to try to figure out where the grinding was coming from but everything looked good and nothing was found. So I figured it was the rear axle bearings and put it in the shop. The dood at the shop went through the checklist for this noise and also determined it must be the rear wheel bearings. He was pretty perplexed during the assessment, as I had been also. Well, I had them replace them, got the van back and the darn grinding sound is still there. I needed the rear bearing replaced so I really don't mind getting them done. But just knowing that it didn't fix what I hoped it would, and that I still have to have it looked at and worked on again just urks me.” 6:55:48 PM 11/19/02 “Car problems stink and always seem to be expensive. I found a good mechanic, but he is expensive. The only good thing is he does the job right and I've never had to go back and have him fix the same problem twice.” 7:00:27 PM 11/19/02 “Buddur, sorry to hear about the van. That stuff is a drag. I got a call from my mom friday...she said her front axle was broken (according to some twit who checked it out). Turns out it was an outer tie-rod. I am glad it broke when she was driving 5 not 50mph.” 8:12:15 PM 11/19/02 “Car probs are the worst, sorry to hear that Buddur. Good luck with all that.” 8:25:06 PM 11/19/02 My Turn! “What a pain in the ass! I walk into the brake place to get my BAV (Big @$$ Van) brakes done and two new tires for the back. Find out the rotors are shot. So, I walk out of the #&%!$ing place $470.00 lighter. Pisses me off because as I see it, you know how much #&%!$ing gear I coulda bought???” 3:03:14 PM 11/20/02 Jump to Page |  1 | 2
