It's bug proof and I've never been wet in it (except when I pitched it in one of those horizontal rains); I used it in all conditions on most of my thruhike.” 7:39:29 AM 4/25/06 “wanderer, you sound exactly like solitary hiker, with whom I had a long exchange about the worthiness of a tarptent to even keep off sunlight. LOL. He kept arguing that you can't use one in winter. I kept arguing that time of year didn't matter, the weather conditions did. Bottom line, the Six Moon and Tarptents are great if snow isn't an issue. If it isn't going to snow in January where you are hiking, then use it. If you are expecting a blizzard in the Sierras, use a winter tent. Gemini - glad you're going to give a Tarptent a try. You saw mine on the Old Rag trip last year. Now you've seen the light (as Stovestomper would say).” 8:07:08 AM 4/25/06 “heeehee...yeah and I also saw the slinglight, which should get here Friday. I actually love my black diamond tent, but I can cut almost one lb with the tarpent. my plan right now is to use the tarpent for hikes where I need low lb is important. I may decide to stick with low pack weight if I am comfortable enough.” 9:31:54 AM 4/25/06 “Its about time you cut your pack weight, Gemmie. I moved your pack a few times and almost busted a...............” 9:43:26 AM 4/25/06 “Is she going to dehydrate her booze?” 10:51:47 AM 4/25/06 “Ooooh, a new Slinglight, too. Go Gemini, go Gemini, go Gemini....” 11:09:13 AM 4/25/06 “my pack weight isnt' that bad. around 30 to 34lb I think normally. I could be wrong. it's been so dang long. I feel like a newb. I want to get to around 28, which will probably be impossible for me. I pack too much clothes. typical woman. heehee and oh...i don't pack booze. you pack the booze for me! :-P” 11:26:10 AM 4/25/06 “Just in case anyone wants to upgrade.... I still am looking for another Mountain Hardwear Batray 2 to buy or trade! I know a kazillion TTers bought them when STP had 'em on closeout.” 11:40:20 AM 4/25/06 “Sass, we like'em, so we keep'em :)” 12:46:50 PM 4/25/06 “"and oh...i don't pack booze. you pack the booze for me! :-P” Gemini 11:26:10 AM 4/25/06 Yes dear........” 1:09:53 PM 4/25/06 “Ewker, there's gotta be someone out there somewhere (besides the dork who wants to sell his and can't find it and the guy who wants $65 for one with the main grommet that holds the pole fraying out), who wants to get rid of some extra gear in the form of a Batray2. You can keep yours but I'm still going to keep looking until I find one, so there! ;P” 12:45:59 PM 4/26/06 Hey Sassafras “I googled around a bit and think I found one for sale. Look at the inventory in this place, is that the shelter? http://www.battenkillvalleyoutdoors.com/Finished%20Pages/MH%20Mens%20Fleece.htm You might have to call to order it. 95 clams.” 1:14:07 PM 4/26/06 “Holy crap man! How far did you dig in the google search? I don't even have that much patience. Thanks JimmySan!! They even have the coupler, whoo-hoo. Got it bookmarked. ....now to scare up $185 plus shipping...... =)” 2:39:31 PM 4/26/06 “Jimmy is smart” 2:43:18 PM 4/26/06 “Jimmy's The Man! Hey WK, how's the knee?” 2:45:09 PM 4/26/06 “You know, it swelled up a bit after the doc took the wrap off on Monday. I have a nasty bruse (SP?) on my inner thigh from something, but I don't know what.” 2:49:02 PM 4/26/06 “WK, how does it feel?” 3:33:22 PM 4/26/06 “I've got my eye on the new tent Henry Shires is developing - the Rainbow 2. This is the Rainbow 1 - 30 ozs and it is sweet: ![]() http://www.tarptent.com/rainbow.html” 5:09:18 PM 4/26/06 “Maybe it's from one of the muscles that attaches near or on your knee getting messed with during surgery? There're three that attach just below the knee that run in your inner thigh. Hope it doesn't hurt too much and you're up and running again soon.” 5:34:50 AM 4/27/06 “WK, bruising and swelling after surgery is normal - the bruising is likely small amounts of blood from blood vessels that got cut during the procedure coming to the surface where the body can remove it more easily. The swelling is likely normal inflamation and is actually part of how the body heals itself. Alternating ice and heat (20 minutes of each followed by 20 minutes of nothing) will help with both pain and swelling if your doc allows it.” 6:08:17 AM 4/27/06
