Llama Rama Update: 7-27; Mel Returns...

“....And Grace is not going.

She had to have herself heli-vaced out of the backcountry on 7-24, and her llamas were taken out by two other members of our group while five of us continued on to finish the trip.

More on that later.

The weather was fine.

The t-shirts will be ready today.

I am sunburnt, wrinkled, and have dirty nails.

My llama, Roy has developed some sort of a urinary problem. The vet says it can be "stones", or cancer.
Great.

I will give him pennicillin injections and he will go on the trip with us. Then he stays home for a full exam in August.

Joppa has been wonderful.
Turk Man will have a good time leading him.

“Graces' llamas were in worse shape than she was.

They were part of her problem: She had to drag three of them the first three days, and then had an asthma attack, and no medicine or inhalator for such an incident.

Planning is everything.

We are back to the 10 to 12 pound per person scenerio...at least for the first four days.

Ten day hikers will have more available space once the Whitney group splits off.
