“I second the motion on the book. Its great! There's also a Trails Illustrated map that covers the area and I think the book and map are keyed to each other if I recall correctly.”

make sure you dont go after hard rains.you do boulder scrambles,
hiking upstream.it is located in
an isolated area in southern part
of park.
there are many nice loops you can do from yahoo falls area,
alum ford,and bridge area in nothern part of parkKY{}
there is a lean-to type of
shelter,south of alum ford on
the river but i would carry water in.
yahoo falls should be seen.if only for a day hike.
do not miss twin arches,impressive but on a ridge,
no fishing.
rock creek is a famous stocked trout stream,if you are into fly-fishing.
many beautiful campsites along rock creek,with easy access in .

I'm going on this trip with The Buckeye Trail Assco. an Ohio trail maintance club(good people). We are meeting at Bandy Creek Campground Oct 27 and plan to stay till nov. 3. If you fish and are up for the trip you are invited! I'd love to hook up with someone who knows their way around. Once we get there we all do our own thing and mine is hike-fish-hike-fish. A couple of people may go my way some have decided the fish/hike combo is alot a fun.”

“Well, Count down time. 20 days to Big South Fork! I can't get my hands on a trail guide I guess Adventureous Traveler was sold out but I got my map. Does anyone knoe if you can get to Angel Falls from the east side of the river? Base camping at Bandy Creek Campground, KYhiker if your out there whats the easy way to rock creek from the campground?”

“Yeah, you have to be on the East side of the river (John Hawk Mine Trail) to get to the Falls (2 miles from Leatherwood Ford).

The JMT (on the west side) takes you to the Angel Falls Overlook.”

“Love that angel falls overlook! You need lots of fishing line and one hell of a pole to cast from there!”
