Going solo at seven years old!!
My seven year old slept in the tent last night by herself. It's pitched in the backyard but still! She did great. I slept on the couch half the night. I left the dog out all night. I left the porch light on, the garage light on and all but the screen door wide open. She's going to do it again tonight. *sigh* They grow up so fast.

Mather, I never dreampt she'd make it past dark! She came bouncing in at 7 am, got some breakfast, another book and went back out for two more hours.

I had a hard time sleeping but it helped that I was exhausted from the slumber party she had the night before. Five girls 6-8 years old camped out on my livingroom floor.

Those girls can eat! Thursday night: spagetti dinner, 2/3 of a watermelon and FIVE bags of microwave popcorn.

Friday morning: 1 dozen hard boiled eggs, 6 pieces of french toast, two bananas and three bowls of cereal.

It was a blast! They put together dinner theater. They made menus, paper food, tickets and song request slips. In the end there never was a performance. LOL

Sunshine, it does not surprise me that your daughter stayed out there all night. she's a very independent one, ya? And I am proud of her. AND of you!! It's really hard to let them do those things.

That's great, Sunshine! I know how you feel about the screen door and windows. My girls want to sleep out in the backyard, and I asked a friend if I could borrow his labrador for the event.

RE: Going solo at seven years old!!
Well, Sun.

You obviously didn't scare her enough first. A little bear or hatchet psycho-murderer talk will take care of this problem.

At least that is what I heard as a kid from the older ones. I didn't sleep out until I was about 10 thanks to them.

pekka, My nephews have been getting their licenses over the last couple of years. Suddenly the memories come flowing back of those close calls when I was 16 & 17 years old. Oh! I have empathy for you!! Of course, I'm certain your daughter is different. I love fast cars and roller coasters. :o)

Thanx, Ped! It takes a good parent to know one.

LyndyS, It's amazing what that little bit of piece of mind having a dog out there makes! There are lots of good reasons for having pets.

Speaking of pets... Dude, Your little guy is a cutie!

sonrisas, I've been having talks with her uncle across the street. I think I've convinced him that it will be more fun to scare her and a bunch of giggling 13 year olds in a few years than to scare a brave little 7 year old. ;o)

RE: Going solo at seven years old!!
That is probably true Sun. But when I try to scare my 12 year old she just rolls her eyes and tells me to get a life. But then I guess I'm not too scary.

Your 7 yr old is brave.
