RE: Nippin' on the trail
Lots of denial and expensive tastes on this thread. I have an aluminum litre wine flask from France that I've used for over twenty years and my daughter gave me the takedownable (is that a word?) lexan wine glass for Christmas - before that it was just the Sierra cup.

I use a plastic Gatoraide bottle for the second night. Longer trips are serious affairs and I wait until I come out before I indulge. My buddy, Johnny Walker, usually brings Glenfiddich in a Scottish, sterling silver flask with three solid silver (gold plated interior) cups in a deerskin flask that apparently once beloved to the Canadian High Commissioner (Ambassador to another Commonwealth country). No, he's not a rural high school teacher like myself.

Happy trails.

Nippin' hurts!!! How 'bout nibblin' instead?

Seriously.... I carry a wee bit of amaretto with me... just for those really long days though.... really!
Mind you, Grand Marnier mixed into it along with hot chocolate is pretty yummy... :o)

Hey Chief, watch out with that Everclear. I set my kitchen on fire using that stuff while making soap! Do not consume near an open flame!

So far so good. Nobody has lit themselves on fire yet. We like to mix it with Crystal Lite lemonade or Crystal Lite Rasberry Ice. Only problem is the Rasberry Ice is really red and stains easy.

Usually nip on the bourbon while enjoying the rest stops and scenery. And of course in the evenings with a little snow and water.

A couple of my fraternity brothers and I fed a shot of everclear to our star running back. His throat nearly closed up on him, and he missed the game that Saturday because of it. He was pissed!

I'm w/ the JChild. There is nothin' so sweet as alcohol/lighter fluid mixes. Makes a person really feel alive.

I'll probably bring some liquid campfire to the Olympic NP rainforest in December. Gonna be long nights, chilly and very very wet. Especially when the rain turns to snow on the upper reaches of the Bogachiel and/or Hoh.

RE: Nippin' on the trail
I heard that someone makes a "dry wine", just add water. If this is true, that's a great idea. I'm suprised that no one mentioned Jager. I hate the stuff, but it does pack a punch. Thinking about bring some of your ideas on the trail, stickley for research of course, when I hike the Jordan River Pathway in September.
