Hey SirPete!
Okay, I've been working in a lumber yard for a couple months and have just about figured out every piece of terminology, except one. What does CDX stand for?? I have been trying to think of stuff that fould make sense, but there aren't many words that start with an x that would fit. Do you know? Does anybody?

RE: Hey SirPete!
PLYWOOD 101

the letters of plywood denote the veneer grade used
the posibilities are numerous but mostly you will see grades of a,b,c, and d.
A=nice finish and all defects removed and replaced with footballs. Cabinet grade sanding
B=also nice finish and defects replaced, perhaps more footballls than A . there is very little difference visibly between a and b. B is usually used face up for subflooring before tile and what not.
C=no sanding at all and there a visible defects in the veneer.
D=even worse

sOOOOoooo. CDX= an eh grade with a ugh grade coupled with (x) exterior glue

then you get into the # of plys most commonl;y you will see 3 to 5 ply but you can get up to like 7 ply if you want to pay. most of your 3/8th stuff is 3, 1/2" is 5 and good 3/4" and 1" are 7
AC is usual used in good one side cabinets
BC is used on subfloors
CDX is exterior sheeting

I hope this helps and there is much more to be said on the subject but I am more into Millwork (doors, trim windows etc) and not the lumber end. So what ever you do don't take what I say to the bank. Call up GP or who ever you buy your plywood from and have them come in and give a product knowledge course. I am sure they would be happy to do so. The more you know about their product the better you can sell it.

I am the Journeyman I do I have a story to tell.

I was home late the other night when I received this email from a long lost friend named Pepsi. Now I ask you, why do you think his name is Pepsi anyway? Do you think he is a truck driver for the co? Do you think that he is a salesman or a factory worker or something.. or does he just like a nice soft drink. Interesting questions aren't they. anyway, where was I , oh yeah so the email, from Pepsi...

So I sent out this mailing to let people know that I was changing my mailing addy and what do I get back, but a messege from him letting me know that he too had a new email addy. How interesting..
Ya know it's not just everyday that a person just up and changes that email so I made darn sure to record it in my book.

So where was I, oh yeah the email. Well come to find out that he was the only one to reply to my mailing.

Very interesting isn't it. I mean there were a lot of people on that mailing that I talk to every day and what do you know, the only person to reply was my long lost freind Pepsi. Do you ever wonder ehy his name is Pepsi???

anyway where was I? oh yeah the email. Well actual I think that's it I think. I have forgotten the point of the story with all these interuptions going on *#*@#
