I might chance a quick September trip when it starts to cool down a little. Don't know where, but I was on orbitz.com and saw round trip tickets to Albuquerque for less than $150 in September. Hmmmmm, aspens turning golden yellow, cool fall nights in the Rockies ...”

“Some of us will be BPing in the White Mountains right now in a month. Backpacking season will officially begin!”

“September is a good month to hit the wilderness in NM. Far fewer people that in June, July and August. I may be mistaken, but that may be a little early for the aspens.”

“I can't wait for September. It's not cooler here in the valley, but I'm willing to make the drive to find cooler weather.

I didn't tell you guys, but I injured my knee while hiking on the Mogollon rim this past June. I did go to the doctor and I have a follow-up next Tues. I'm hiking no matter what.

Steve hiker - what state are you from? Almost everyone on TT seems to live in cooler climate than me.”

“I'm in Louisiana. The humidity is a killer. You can't hike down here at all during the summer.”

“Oh boy - I lived 20 years in FL and I understand humidity too. I've never hike in Albuquergue, but I've drove through. It's beautiful there. It should be good hiking. Good luck, I hope you get to go. The ticket price is right.”

“It's finally getting backpacking season and I'll be home bound for a while. My wife will be having our second child around Thanksgiving. The first one was 2.5 weeks early, so this one might be early too. That pretty much eliminates a trip from October til late January. Come February I'll be ready for a trip. There was talk awhile back about an Alabama trip. How about Sipsey Wilderness in Feb?”

“steve hiker, the Ozark Highland Trail Assn. is going to do the entire OHT this year one weekend a month starting maybe in november. I'm waiting for them to post it so i can sign up.

I don't know where you live in La. but maybe it wouldn't be too far to make the trip. Should take seven to nine months to do it a section or so a month.”
