Dugger Wilderness(AL)

“Has anyone here been to the Dugger Wilderness in Talladega NF? I have not been able to find a map of the area. I live about 2 hrs away and would like to at least take a day trip.”

I think the Dugger Wilderness Area shows up on the Pinhoti trail map. I think it is on either Section 1 or 2. I'll look tonite and see. If it does and you can't get the maps in your area, let me know and I'll pick one up and send it to you they are easy to find around here.”

“Thanks Rabbitman, I didn't realize it was on the Pinhoti. I'm going to take a dayhike at Cheaha on Sat. I'll pick up a map then. What town do you live in? I'm in Pell City.”

“I live in Kimberly which is about 10 mi north of Birmingham.”

“I know about where that is. You're close to Fultondale. I'll post a thread about Sipsey starting in December.”

“I thu hiked the Pinhoti last Febuary. There is a great creek section east along the trail from Duggar mountain itself. If I was doing the area again, I would plan a camp in the area.

I seeme to remember great views, but it was Febuary. I lost my coffee mug up there somewhere, so if you find it, you can keep it.

If you want to hike along the Pinhoti, there was a great section with some cool falls in section 6 south of Five Points between FS 515 and Morgan Lake. That is a must camp place on my next Pinhoti hike.”

“dayhiker, If you need any info on the Sipsey let me know. Its nearly my front yard. (2 miles) I hike there quite often, and can get you all the maps you need.

“I didn't mean to jump threads. rabbitman asked me about a Sipsey trip and I answered it over here. BAMA-there has been talk of getting a TT trip for that area. I grew up in Hamilton which is about 45 minutes away(I live 2 hrs. away now), thought I 've only been a couple times. Thanks for the offer, mayber we can hike there sometime.”
