OK, I confess. Some of those photos were taken at the zoo, Like the Griz pics. I like zooming in close and capturing expressions. Bears are great for that.

Dude- Bears "in the zoo" are great for that. LOL How 'bout the cougar? I've still yet to see one on the trail, although I've had tracks go right through my camp.

I'm glad we don't have any of those pesky gators, around my neck of the woods.

Thanks BC, I've hiked the Pierce Pt Tr many times and the pictures were taken over several trips. I just got my pics back from my last trip there w/ LH, LG and, I hate saying this but Pantscandy. Once I get them scanned I'll be posting them too.

How close did you get to the bears in Denali? Looks like too close for comfort or you brought a 9-foot lens.

RE: Favorite Animal Photos
Violin, we posted simultaneously. The closest we got was about 20-30 yds. They showed no signs of aggresion at any time, they seemed more interested in avoiding us and moving on.

I know we posted at the same time. I come from a long line of 'wise acres'. I can't help it.

That is pretty close. Nice pics.

RE: Favorite Animal Photos
WDude, I probably coulda walked up to that bear and scratched his ears. I thought he was deaf and blind. Guess he was just a laid back bear. He was about 12 feet from me. That's about the range of my red eye flash. Followed him for about 45 min, took 28 photos and only 3 came out.

40 feet is about as close to a wild bear as I've ever been. I didn't have time to take a picture cause he bolted as soon as he saw us.
