All dogs except one repulse you? Seems a little harsh, dude! Just curious, but what exactly is it that you find so repulsive?

No doubt, there are a lot of irresponsible
dog owners out there, who are pretty clueless concerning their dog's behavior, but from my experience they are the few exceptions rather than the rule.

I love hiking with my dog. I do keep her on leash when others are around, clean up after her, and make sure she doesn't go up to strangers (recognizing that some people are fearful of dogs in general and Dobermans in particular) unless the people I meet show an interest in meeting her.

A well socialized dog with a responsible owner is not a problem on the trail.”

In some outdoor areas, it is not legal to have dogs on the trail. Some people pay attention to the dog rules. Some people do not. Some dogs are well trained. Some dogs are not.”

“Sarabelle and Sasha Marie are the only trail hounds I know well. Both are very well behaved girls and I'll hike with them any day (yes, Sasha I will throw the slobbery stick for you).

I have had the misfortune of meeting some not so nice, irresponsible dog owners on the trail. Notice I didn't blame the dogs.

My trail hound Frodo, is retired now. He was a great dog on the trail now he's a great big lounge lizard.

My other two dogs just aren't trail material. I had hoped my rescue dog Bali, would be but it doesn't look like that's meant to be:-(”

Do dogs dig a 6" deep hole to dump in?
Can they tell if they are 100' from a stream when they relieve themselves?
Do they care who owns the food bag they drag off and chew up?
Do they care if the child is terrified as long as they get to lick the sticky mess of the child's face?

Dogs don't care.
Their masters care less.

Dogs don't belong on the trail.

Speaking of dogs...There was a hunter who left his hounds tied up overnight up Kelly Creek in the Bitterroot mountains. The next day all they found was a little fir and blood all over the place. They figured that a wolf pack got them.”
