I remember Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods".. I was amazed at how many people don't hardly get a WEEK into obviously a 4-6 month trip and realize they are miserably unprepared..

I have heard about folks who did the 9 mile approach, and QUIT as soon as they saw the Springer Mt placard!

“TD, I think from reading Bill Brysn's book that most people in that catagory were the ones that had never hiked before and decided to hike the whole AT. Might as well have never ran before and decided to run 100 marathons back to back for 6 months.
