sarge, most of congress is misrepresenting everyone in this country. They vote on what they think is right not what we think is right. How often do they check with the people who voted them in about issues. Very rarely!!

They are elected by us because we believe they will take the available information and make the appropriate decisions.

You see, 'regular' people don't have time to collect all the facts and then vote on every issue. That's the job of the congressmen. That's why they're elected. To make good decisions based on information that most of us don't have. That's the point of having a Republic. Otherwise, we could do away with congress and vote on everything. That is impractical.
