I like the book "The Millionaire Next Door" which describes how couples manage to pile up millions of dollars of savings simply by living below their means, not showing off their wealth to the neighbors, relatives, and country club regulars, and being happy with a simple life (Doesn't work if only one spouse is careful with spending). 19 years ago this month my mother succumbed to breast cancer after a 5 year battle; 19 years and 2 months ago my dad died too..of what? Basically a broken heart. I like to believe he missed my Mom and just gave up..
