Earthquake!
Just had one in Sacto. I looked up from this page and the window started moving back and forth and my feet started swaying. Only lasted a couple of seconds but man, every time tht happens it sorta freaks me out!!

Speakin of earthquakes:

Why did a big earthquake hit Seattle last year? It's the center for rock 'n roll.

What happened when the new couple in Seattle had sex for the first time? The earth moved.

I'm here in Reno on the fourth floor. Felt kinda weird, like vibrating. It was a 5.5 according to the USGS. Shook the windows and such, but none of the buildings collapsed.

RE: Earthquake!
I live near Disneyland and just felt an earthquake 10 minutes ago. According to the web it was a 5.1 about 9 miles from Anza (not far from Palm Springs). I was surprised to feel it so far away.

It has been a while since I felt a big shaker...not really asking for one though.

RE: Earthquake!
Chief, you've probably felt a few quakes down in Wyoming. I feel them over at Cooke City when Yellowstone gets a big one.

Aero - I have reported the last few quakes I felt. The maps they make from the reports are interesting.

That earthquake site also shows a map of the Long Valley Caldera. Mel lives right on the edge of it. Fun!

RE: Earthquake!
We used to work in an 11 story office building, in Billings,
that really swayed during very distant quakes. We felt one in Idaho and one down in Wyoming; both were about 300 miles away. The building had a central strucural core with the floors cantelievered out. It was like a huge seismograph. Phil could probably shed some light on this one.

RE: Earthquake!
Apparently it was not a Blue Moon on the east coast. The full moon started after midnight so technically is was in November.

RE: Earthquake!
That ain't no quake, Phil. A garbage truck rumbling by could cause the Richter to hit 5.1. Don't bother us again until there's an 8.0 or better.

RE: Earthquake!
LOL!

BTW. I have been through every major quake in LA since 1971 except the Whittier quake in 1988 (I was on the freeway and didn't feel a thing). Loads of fun! My brother lived in Landers during the Landers quake (7.4). The fault went through his yard and under his garage. Shook them up big-time!! He and his kids came out without a scratch. His wife got bruises and sprains. It took us three days to clean up inside his house. The fault rearranged his back yard. I'll scan the photos some day...amazing.
