I'm Baaaack...

“Frip frop, Yay camp! Alas, camp in the northwoods is over and I'm exhausted and will need a while to recoup. Now here's the story of this fall...

I've graduated from college with a quazi-useless (until I go to grad school) degree, and I don't have a job. I'm registered for the North Shore Inline Marathon in Duluth in the middle of September, so I am planning on going on a road trip through the Midwest after a wedding next wekend. I'm planning on running south through Iowa and Illinois to Indiana and possibly up through Michigan to get back to Minnesota. I'll probably do all this towards the end of September so I can visit my friends at school.

I"m also interested in finally doing some backpacking, and if anyone has any suggestions or would like to get together around that time for a hike, let me know.

After that traveling, I suppose I'll get a job somewhere, but that doesn't sem so important right now. Right now a couple songs by Boby McFerren come to mind - "Don't Worry, Be Happy," and "Simple Pleasures." Awwww- Yeah!”

“Reached the Canadian Border early yesterday morning, made it back late yesterday afternoon. Got loads of catching up to do and will prolly be scarce here for a while.”

“I'll start typing my journal into the web site tonight or tomorrow. I asked my wife to do a bunch of things while I was gone and felt asking her to make entries was a bit too much.

I am, although I had to modify my plans a bit after coming down with heat exhaustion Monday while hiking the BFT.”

“Drink lots of beer and rest.”

“Yeah I guess after you haven't left NY for awhile, the heat all the way down south here in PA would be a bit much.

“I felt better the next day, though not completely 100%, but decided to get off the trail and not chance things solo on a trail with no other people. Yesterday I ended up hiking 16 miles on the West Rim Trail anong the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, so I guess that must me I'm feeling like my old self again.”

“You're right lyra! He does have a nice speaking voice. His low and sulty tone kind of sucks you into the conversation. And then BAM! He says something so complex that you wonder what the hell just happened.”
