9/15 & 9/16 Savage Gulf, (not sure, but I will find it)TN.

10/18 thru 10/21 Appalachian Trail - Roan Mt Section, close to Hampton TN.

11/9 thru 11/11 Tennessee Trail Association Yearly Get-Together, Newport TN

12/1 & 12/2, Fiery Gizzard, Tracy City TN

Plus willing to go to any other hike I am invited to... and might CRASH 'invited' a few I if I find out about them.

“What is a "Fiery Gizzard? It sounds like a Pokemon. A mountain, park, river?”

“There are a lot of stories about how Fiery Gizzard trail got its name, the most common one being that Davy Crockett burned his tongue on a chicken gizzard while camping there. As intriguing as those stories are, my Fiery Gizzard story will always be how I almost managed to get a Darwin award there.”

Here are some Pictures from an ECT trip to Fiery Gizzard. The shots are mostly of other TTers but there are some scenic shots too. It's a very beautiful State Park in Tennessee.”

“TownDawg - Fiery Gizzard is a VERTICAL ROCK-HOP! But it's lots of fun and very beautiful. You meet lots of nice people there, too. They just come strolling into your campsite with backpacks on! LOL

Don't forget about Mt. Rogers, VA the first weekend in November! You are going to be one busy canine this fall!”

“Walkindude-- I have the fiery gizzard map.. but thanks! Looks like a GREAT party building for the December trip tho. My personal preference would be to come in on the Raven's Point side, make the loop and then drive over to the other side. I just love the FG/DHL trails. There is nothing like the rockhop you get into down along the river, which is where I got lost a year ago of course.)


Biz -- Do what you want, but the October trip is a better trip. This being your first time to the Appalachians, I would choose the October backpack trip. The scenery is beyond compare. Fiery Gizzard is a great trail, but the views from the Roan Mt area are spectacular. I am sure that Barb/Joyce and others in that area will agree. Freeze your lil tushie off?.. It could happen in December.”

BTW, Chip won't be there. Chip is a psycho that lives on the AT. Me & Rad met him in Ga. at Blood Mtn Shelter. WHAT A LUNATIC!”
