Tikka or moonlight? “I was out pack shopping when I decided to check out this Tikka lamp that everybody loves. Well right next to it was a version made by black diamond called the Moonlight. It has four led's compared to the Tikka's 3 and it swivels. Is it better?” 10:00:07 PM 8/14/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “ moonlight reviews moving parts are parts that can break.. i kinda like the idea of having the battery pack on the back..” 10:40:06 PM 8/14/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “Ah, okay. Considering it comes from Black Diamond (a climbing company), that's why they put that third strap over the top. That's my guess anyway.” 12:17:59 AM 8/16/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “Zipka, that was my choice. I hate the strap system and love the spectra cord that disappears when not in use. I know some will say the cord or spring could break but it appears pretty secure to me. I sometimes lay down and read and the fact that the spring housing can be positioned to the side of my head makes in very comfortable.” 4:36:20 AM 8/17/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “I wouldn't want the moonlight for the same reason I didn't want any other headlamp before the tikka; it's just too much stuff on your head. The moonlight is probably better for hiking in the dark but the tikka is the smallest and most comfortable for getting around your camp spot at night and reading. I wear it with a ball cap and forget I have it on. If you want a convenient, tiny, lightweight flashlight that goes for two years on a set of batteries and don't plan on hiking long distances using it, go for the tikka.” 10:14:29 AM 8/17/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “I bought a Moonlight headlamp this week and so far it seems like a great light. It projects a bright white light and is supposed to last 70 hours on 3 AAA batteries. It seems to be well made and is water resistant with a rubber covered switch underneath the lamp. It should be good for snowshoeing and skiing at night. I usually take an oil lamp to light up my tent in the winter, but now I'll just hang this light up and leave the oil lamp home. It never produced enough heat to the point that I could take my coat off and not be cold anyway.” 9:02:18 PM 8/21/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “Deathmarch99- Don't know much about the Moonlight, but I'll give the Tikka one more plug (which it probably doesn't need). I wore my tikka up Mt. Rainer--never changed batteries, could have done another night's worth of climbing. The guides on my trip were jealous...” 1:30:40 PM 8/22/01 RE: Tikka or moonlight? “Experienced terminal headlamp dysfucntion on recent thru-hike of NPT in NY. Had told my buddy that i wuz gonna git me one a' them LED lights by next year, but already am waitin' for the Campmor order to arrive. 150-hrs. w/o battery change? Can't beat that, 'specially for cold-weather (fortuitously coming, eventually) applications.” 4:20:39 PM 8/23/01
