Jennie Lakes Hike 8/24-26

“You guys better check on those fire conditions. Been lots of bans in effect lately. Unless you mean you just need one to operate the stove.”

“I called the Hume Lake Ranger District 2 days ago. Unless something has changed very recently ...we're Ok for a campfire.
If they ban campfires...do you think they will post it at the trailhead???
I'll call them again next week ...just to be sure.”

Windwalker, where are you in Cali? Obi's going to pick me up on the way. Or I could drive but he'll be coming down towards me anyway. Are you on the way from Napa or Stockton?”

In another thread, pantscandy said that he might be up for it. So he might be coming too.

I think that makes Obi, hikerchic5, Tahoe, windwalker+ his two boys, and bongofreek. I think ladyhiker and rockbuck were maybees. And now pantscandy. Which way would you be taking down there pantscandy? Maybe we could carpool or meet up in Stockton?

OWC...I would love to stay for Monday too ...but it's the first day of school for my older son and he tells me he has a test on the first day.

Weaver Lake (8,600 ft.) and Jennie Lake (9,000 ft.)in the Jennie Lakes Wilderness. It's a loop trail start and finish at the same trailhead. I'm not sure about the mileage...looks like an easy weekender”

“Just went over the topo's for this area, and the loop around Weaver and Jennie Lakes is approx. 17 miles. It would appear that doing the loop clockwise would be the better approach - elevation profile indicates that would be a comfortable and gradual downhill for the 2nd half of the trek. Big Meadows TH is at 7609', JO Pass (half-way point) is at 9468'.”

“Hey Obi.....I had Jury duty today....yep you guessed it, I'm on a trial that is expected to last 5 days. So I can't make Friday at all.
I tried everything I knew to get out of it... to no avail.”

“I'm going to have to pass on this one too.. I'm doing 6 days on the Wonderland Trail around Rainier over Labor Day so I'm not going to have enough time for both.

You know where we'll be, we won't be hiking in Friday, at least, not far, if we do, so you won't have any problems finding us.

You live close enough that you can get there before midnight, right? I took your message to mean that you couldn't arrive there during the daytime, due to jury duty. But if you're close enough to the area, I hope you'll consider meeting up with us afterward - it's gonna be a great hike!
