West Coast Trail

“I'm doing the West Coast Trail (B.C.) next summer. Any advice?
I'm not really a serious hiker, cause I don't have the time. I was just hoping for some tips. How to train, best time to go, etc.

“The one you need to talk to is bc trailguy. He told us numerous stories about this trail (and a lot of other BC wilderness) last weekend while hiking in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness. However, he may never find this thread, as he left again yesterday for another week long trip.

bc trailguy posts here occassionally and other local hikers. Don't expect to much activity though, this site has more posts in a single day then HikingBC has in a few months.”

“The West Coast Trail is a killer hike. You may want to try the Juan de Fuca Trail, which is very near the West Coast Trail. It is the same terrain, just a bit shorter. But, as a coastal hike...you will have elevation gain and loss for the entire hike. To train, I would recommend abusing a stairstepper for a few months.”
