One Bourbon, One Scotch, or one beer?
If you had a choice, which would you drink on the trail?

Bourbon for the trail should be cheap, such as Old Crow.

Scotch is another question. Of the blends, I enjoy Famous Grouse.

Beer is too heavy, but once I found someone's mesh bag cooling in the river right where they forgot it at a camp site. That's the best beer in the backcountry, free and carried in by someone else.

lol - I posted that cause Johnny Lee was singing it, but I'd rather truck in a bottle of Firestone Merlot (95) to be honest.

I'm familiar with the George Thoroughgood version myself.

Do you truck in a good porterhouse to go with the merlot? Or maybe a nice tenderloin wrapped in bacon?

Of course that means you say the heck with trying to cook on a Pocket Rocket, at least that first night out.

That's a funny song. Thoroughgood must be a serious alocholic.

I'm not a beer or scotch fan, and beer is too heavy. If I take something it is usually brandy. Goes well in coffee or tea.

I don't drink alochol at all. I just like the George Thoroughgood tune.

How about Rory Gallagher's "Too Much Alcohol"? Them Irish rockers know whereof they speak (RIP in Rory's case).

Speaking of Irish, a wee nip of their whiskey can warm a damp, chilly evening.

Tilt, all of Rory's albums have been remastered and rereleased on CD. A record shop owner I know said his family had finally authorized them.

RE: One Bourbon, One Scotch, or one beer?
Tilt: Of course, they can't leave well enough alone. I picked up Tattoo and in the remastering they added two unreleased cuts, one of which I hate. Spoils things a bit, but the rest is a real trip back to the British Isle blues-rock craze -- "Cradle Rock," "Million Miles Away," etc.

Didn't Rory die from complications after a liver transplant?
Ouch!!!

pekka, I have a copy of Rory's alblum, "TASTE" from 1969.
Cool stuff!

Let's have a kiss, bacpac!

I broke the TT habit for a while....Doh!

Two of my boys and I spent 15 nights in a tent in July on three different outings.

Well, there where times when I smelled like I had died!

TT...

You can stay in my tent even if you smell dead.

We will wear the purple t-shirt, and drink all of the above.

Don't forget the citronella candles though...

The scent will help drown out the stinkyness, and keep the bugs at bay.

Beer is why you want to do a llama rama.Let Oreo carry the party. Naviguesser took along some tequila with the seven day group. He shared it at Upper Crabtree and I got pretty buzzed just being a beer drinker and all. Slept great that nite.

Wanna tell you a story
About the house-man blues
I come home one Friday
Had to tell the landlady I'da lost my job
She said that don't befront me
Long as I get my money next Friday
Now next Friday come I didn't get the rent
And out the door I went

So I goes to the landlady
I said you let me slide?
I'll have the rent for you in a month
Next I don't know
So said let me slide it on you know people
I notice when I come home in the evening
She ain't got nothing nice to say to me
But for five year she was so nice
Lord, she was lovey-dovey
I come home one particular evening
The landlady said you got the rent money yet?
I said no, can't find no job
Therefore I ain't got no money to pay the rent
She said I don't believe you're tryin' to find no job
Said I seen you today you was standin' on a corner
Leaning up against a post
I said but I'm tired, I've been walkin' all day
She said that don't befront me
Long as I get my money next Friday
Now next Friday come I didn't have the rent
And out the door I went

So I go down the streets
Down to my good friend's house
I said look man I'm outdoors you know
Can I stay with you maybe a couple days?
He said let me go and ask my wife
He come out of the house
I could see it in his face
I know that was no
He said I dunno man, ah she kinda funny, you know
I said I know, everybody funny, now you funny too
So I go back home
I tell the landlady I got a job, I'm gonna pay the rent
She said yeah?
I said oh yeah
And then she was so nice
Lord, she was lovey-dovey
So I go in my room, pack up my things and I go
I slip on out the back door and down the streets I go
She a-howlin' about the front rent, she'll be lucky to get any back rent
She ain't gonna get none of it
So I stop in the local bar, y'know, people
I go to the bar, I hang my coat, I call the bartender
Said look man, come down here, he got down there
Said what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
Well I ain't seen my baby since I don't know when,
I've been drinking bourbon, whiskey, scotch and gin
Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose,
need me a triple shot of that juice
Gonna get drunk don't you have no fear
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

But I'm sitting now at the bar,
I'm getting drunk, I'm feelin' mellow
I'm drinkin' bourbon, I'm drinkin' scotch, I'm drinkin' beer
Looked down the bar, here come the bartender
I said "Look man, come down here"
Said "What you want?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since the night before last,
gotta get a drink man I'm gonna get gassed
Gonna get high man I ain't had enough,
need me a triple shot of that stuff
Gonna get drunk won't you listen right here,
I want one bourbon, one shot and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Now by this time I'm plenty high,
you know when your mouth a-getting dry you're plenty high
Looked down the bar I say to my bartender
I said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
Said "What you want this time?"
I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"
He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock
Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since a nigh' and a week,
gotta get drunk man till I can't even speak
Gonna get high man listen to me,
one drink ain't enough Jack you better make it three
I wanna get drunk I'm gonna make it real clear,
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

I drink alone, yeah
With nobody else
I drink alone, yeah
With nobody else
You know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself

Every morning just before breakfast
I don't want no coffee or tea
Just me and good buddy Wiser
That's all I ever need
'Cause I drink alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself

The other night I laid sleeping
And I woke from a terrible dream
So I caught up my pal Jack Daniel's
And his partner Jimmy Beam
And we drank alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself

The other day I got invited to a party
But I stayed home instead
Just me and my pal Johnny Walker
And his brothers Black and Red
And we drank alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself

My whole family done give up on me
And it makes me feel oh so bad
The only one who will hang out with me
Is my dear Old Granddad
And we drink alone, yeah
With nobody else
Yeah, you know when I drink alone
I prefer to be by myself
