“Here's the plan:

Friday the 18th of January. Those of us that can arrive this day we will meet/ set up camp at the Bable Tower trailhead.Early arrivals can do some area dayhikes or just socialize. It will be easy to find and I will have it marked. It's right on the Kistler Memorial Highway (dirtroad).

Saturday the 19th of January: The folks that arrive on Friday will meet the Saturday arrivals at Louise's RockHouse at 8 am for breakfast then proceed to shuttle some of the cars to the Conely Cove trailhead.Hit the CCT for 1 mile down into the gorge to the Linville Gorge trail where the best camp spot are for the entire gorge.

Sunday the 20th of January: Linville Gorge Trail for 3.4 miles to the Babel Tower trail for 1.2 miles up out of the gorge to the trailhead.

Iffin this is not enough for the first day we can alter the plan to come in on the Pinch In trail to the same campsite for a total of 4.3 miles, which is very doable.Sunday would remain the same.

Or we can split into two groups to end up at the same destination.

“We still have it on the calendar and we've purchased some things to keep me warmer than that night on Cold Mountain, but I'm not completely sure we can make it. If we come on the trip I think we'll come up on Friday.

I don't care how many miles we hike on Sat, but we could wait to officially make up our minds at the RockHouse (ECT clubhouse).”

“both Bill and I would like to make this one but the baby is due on the 20th so we will just have to see how things go , no promises but maybe we will be lucky and he will come early”

“some of us will be there on friday and head down in. i think the plan is to come out saturday morning and meet the others at a restaraunt and set up shuttles from there (don't know if this is for sure yet though). i will be there friday and may mosey around and meet the rest somewhere saturday in the gorge. i'd like to see as much as possible and not spend too much time climbing in and out. i have to order a map so i can see what the possibilities are.”

“its near grandfather mountain i believe. i don't know the milage. yep, just outside of richmond, va. i figure it will be about 250 miles from here. yes, 10 is the limit on group size. if necessary we can form two groups and have two different camps i guess. i'm thinking we won't have a problem with group size.”
