3rd Annual Linville Gorge Trip!!!

“Mo, I don't know exactly what you mean about reversing the trip! The way it's laid out is the easiest route and would be more convenient for those leaving on Sunday.I don't really think that you would want to come out on the Pinch In Trail and then drive home.The way I have it planned anyone that has to get an earlier start can leave out on the Conolly Cove Trail iffin it's necessary. The campsite for Saturday night is where the Conolly Cove trail meets the Linville Gorge Trail unless after we all get there we change the plan.

I plan to arrive at the Babel Tower trailhead on Friday at around noon.I have no idea who is coming and when they plan to be there thats the main reason for camping at the trailhead on Friday.Alot of folks get lost in daylight at the Gorge and it's too dangerous to travel after dark so I thought it the best idea iffin we are expecting anyone after dark.Is anyone planning on arriving on Saturday morning?

“one item to note - Babel Tower Trailhead is 2.7 miles from junction of NC-183 and SR-1238 - if coming in at night this may be a good guide to the trailhead. The Conley Cove trailhead is 5.3 miles from NC-183 on SR-1238 if coming in Saturday morning.

Conley Cove Tr. - 930 ft elev change and 1.4 miles long.

Babel Tower Tr. - 920 ft elev. and 1.2 miles long

If I read the book right its 3.5 miles between the two trails on the Linville Gorge Tr.

Also note a nice swimming hole 100 yd downriver from the Conley COve Trail junction - who's up for a quick dip??? (BSEG)

“Here it is the last minute! I am all packed. But, I've decided if I am going hike & camp two nights in the rain I'd rather not add driving 24+ hours in the rain to the fun. So Moz will not be there. Maybe next time!

“Evergreen - I don't have much rain gear either, but I am coming regardless. I plan on bringing an umbrella, and extra ponchos if i start hating the umbrella. I also am going to back oodles of heavy duty trash bags.
