Things I have lost while hiking

“1. A pocket knife my grandfather gave me :(

2. Plenty of underwear...”

“Water bottles that went rolling off down hill to impossible to reach places. A hand made white bandana I loved. A wool scarf in brown paisley--it was my friend. Last minth my tent fly stayed in Colorado.”

“The keys to my grandmothers LTD (backtracked and found them). whew!”

2. Headband
3. Fleece Jacket (actually, I lost that in the pub after hiking)

I did gain some sanity along the way though.”

You won't believe this story: A friend of mine was hiking in the San Gorgonio Wildernss when he was boy on one of the trace trails (not a main trail). He happened to find a shiny new pocket knife laying on the ground. To his surprise the name of the owner was engraved on the blade AND IT WAS THE SAME LAST NAME AS HIS!!! (His last name is Roth...not very common).”

Last month in the Trinities we returned to our camp after spending the day hiking and fishing. It was then that I realized my camera was about 1.5 miles away at a lake we'd been to that afternoon. The camera is getting old, so I debated overnight whether it was worth going back for. In the end it was the film I wanted more than the camera. Although it added three miles to our hike out the next morning, the camera was right where I thought it would be, and the pictures were well worth it.”

“The only backpacking thing I've ever lost was my Campmor plastic booze flask.

My kid lost his brand new jacknife at Pictured Rocks in the sand and cried terribly. A week later he found a better one in the sand at HIggins Lake!”

That's all I can think of right now.”
