I only have one opposable thumb.
Man this sucks. I was sick and tired of wrestling that bell pepper on the cutting board so I took a mighty slice and whamo!

Filet anyone?

RE: I cut my finger
Next time you try chopping a bell pepper, put your head down reeeeaal close to the cutting board so you can see better.

It won't stop throbbing.
Dried blood flakes off after a reasonable amount of time.

Who knew?

Try slicing the top of the pepper off first, scoop out the seeds and guts, then cut it in half lengthwise. No more wrestling peppers. Hope your thumb heals fast.

I read that one earlier... well at least most of it - I could feel his pain.

On a side note: I looked back at the start of this thread and now realize why people #&%!$ about trail talk going to crap with all these off-topic threads nowadays.

#9 of 99 is amusing. Too bad the painting execution is so crappy. I know middle schoolers who paint better than that.

JEFFERSON -- A customer at a Route 15 go-go bar left a tip -- literally -- after getting his hand caught in a bar stool and somehow severing part of his middle finger, police said Monday.

With blood gushing from his left hand, the 46-year-old Hopatcong man somehow stayed in his seat for 15 minutes before finally alerting a bartender, Lt. Eric Wilsusen said.

"I don't know if he was watching the dancers or embarrassed," Wilsusen said, of the delayed report.

The man was taken to St. Clare's/Dover hospital following the 5:50 p.m. mishap at the bar called Pumps, Wilsusen said.

"The tip was recovered. It went with him" to the hospital, Wilsusen said.

Wilsusen, recounting the bizarre incident, said it happened shortly after the man walked inside and pulled up a bar stool.

"Somehow the tip of his finger goes between the seat cushion of the bar stool and the metal frame of the chair,"Wilsusen said.

"He sits down. When he does, it severs the (tip of the) middle finger of his left hand,"Wilsusen said.

An employee answering the phone at Pumps declined comment.

Wilsusen said the customer was remarkably stoic, at least at first. "He didn't tell anybody right away," he said.

Performers at the bar likely got a disquieting view since the bar "goes right around the dance floor," Wilsusen said.

Wilsusen said that Pumps opened about a year ago at the site where High Heels previously operated.

8 year old (the one that just got the buzz cut) came inside screaming with his hand covered with blood. he snuck a pocket knife out of the house then proceeded to stick his thumb with it. just a poke but it bled a lot. i was wondering what was going to happen when he asked if he could have a pocket knife and i said that we would have to go over some safety stuff first. a little cold water and a band aid later and he is out the door... better go check and make sure all my lighters are accounted for.

LMOA... please don't give him any ideas.

this dude is my 'climbing buddy'... we go rock climbing about 2-3 times per week. he is a "natural" and i am very proud of him... never listens to anything i say and is always doing something stupid and borderline dangerous on the wall. haha, right on.

people ask me what i like about having kids and i point that fellow.

i prolly should be more strict with him but he has a good heart and strong character and i fear if i come on too strong i'll ruin something. if it ain't broke don't fix it.

so exactly chappy... and nobody got killed, maimed, or is going to sue me so all is good. the poke with the knife was lesson enough. he came to me to get the band aid and listened as i patiently lectured him... he came to me... see. so the trust and comfort are there... a solid relationship.

don't kid me wrong, i dearly love my other two and could rant for hours (i know, take it to the braggin on my kids thread) but he so reminds me of yours truly as a wild brat running around the jack pines of the huron shore of michigan it's scary.

I was out for a hike when my daughter was around 6. I came home to a somewhat distraught mother and a very uncertain daughter. Seems she had gotten a hold of Daddy's hand axe, (which daddy carelessly left around beat me beat me) and proceeded to play choppy choppy with some pine limbs. To this day I am amazed she only took off the very tip end of her thumb. It could have been so much worse. Mom had scurried her to the hospital and all was cleaned up by the time I got home.

But she did learn a very important lesson. Not sure what it was... but I have to say that to assuage my guilt at having left the hand axe where she could get it. Come to think of it... Maybe I was the one that learned the lesson.

I learned a lesson with a knife years ago. I was trying to cut something, wasn't careful, ended up needing stitches. I still have the scar.

Heck scars are good for boys (LOL). We had a kid open up his thumb and an Order of the Arrow ordeal weekend. His father is a doctor and they are close friends of mine, so I was particularly dedicated to getting it cleaned and treated. The worst part was it was the END of the thumb.

he lived.

my youngest has a 'harry potter' style scar on his head... baseball bat... he was in the wrong place when a batter took a swing at a pitch. his sister was home before him and she was screaming louder than he was crying. i'll admit, there was a lot of blood (head wound) and it looked really bad but he cleaned up well and it was like 3 stitches for him. the scar really shows up well with his haircut but it will fade as he grows up.
