Yes, the Mid-West, East, and South have great programs. I take nothing away from that. But you'd be a fool like the rest to overlook the West when it comes to football. Don't be a follower of the stereotype. Focus on the trend the West has been setting over the past decade. Look to the future and see the further changes realignment brings to the Nation's conferences. Times have changed, and are changing every year. The West is becoming stronger and stronger each and every season.

Last decade? According to the AP, USA/CNN and BCS Rankings, since 1992, there hasn't been any National Champions coming out of the West Coast. In last year's bowl games alone, in Western v. other parts of the country matchups, the west took 3, while other took 8 games, with your winners being, Boise State, Fresno State and UCLA. I'd rather focus on the STANDARD that the Big Ten has set.

“I'm a Fresno State fan. We've had great success against the Big 10. So have most of the teams in the PAC 10 and couple teams in the MWC. Just because west coast teams haven’t won a championship in a while doesn’t mean they can’t compete with you guys. Get real!
The Mid West isn’t the only place that wins NC’s anyway. If I recall correctly, Ohio State hadn’t won one since 1968…but all of a sudden your acting like they’re going to repeat (or someone in the Big 10 will) every year in the future. Come on… Weren’t the last 6 out of 7 championships won by SOUTHERN teams??

I knew Washington State was way overrated all last season - no surprise there. How about USC? Oh, I guess they suck too... Didn't they have the Heisman Trophy winner? Nahh...west coast teams never have any talent, do they? They suck, right?

I never said the West was going to overtake the Mid West, East or South and start winning NC's year after year. The West used to be more of an equal with the rest of the country's conferences up until a few decades ago. Then in the late 80's through the early 90's all the West Coast conferences took a dump for some reason. I’m not just talking about NC’s, I’m talking about on the whole. But in the past DECADE all the west teams are starting to step up. 10 years ago, who was talking about teams like Fresno State and Boise State? Nobody. Now even YOU do. It’s not just the PAC 10 anymore. Teams in the WAC and MWC are stepping up. More universities in the West are investing in their football programs. There IS a trend. Deal with it.

And to say that fans over hear only care about bands and floats is an ignorant and ridiculous statement. I guess Raider fans fit that mold? These same fans watch NCAA football on the west coast dude.

Talk about a tough non-com pick of games! I do not dispute OSU’s win over Miami, they won (with a little help from the ref and a teacher passing Maurice even after he walked out of an exam). My contention is that with a creampuff schedule like this they should have NEVER been ranked #1 or #2 to even make it into the championship game. And with the 2003 schedule having such puzzy teams as San Diego State, North Carolina State, and Bowling Green we just might see the fiasco repeat itself.

As for other teams, no one plays a real tough schedule. I love watching all college sports, especially football. I cannot think of one team that plays a schedule so much tougher than anyone. I have been watching Notre Dame football since I was young. Even their schedule can feature small weak teams. These weak teams love playing th ebig boys though. First, if you are a Miami of Ohio and you play ND, in most cases you will be viewed by tens of thousands of people on a major network. This is big for these small weaker teams. Occasionally, these teams raise up and beat up the big boys.

Bring on the 03-04 season. GO ND!”

Um, hello? The five odd years ago this year's schedule was set both ND and Organ were top rated teams. Wahsington is a consistantly rated team but NCS can hardly be called a yearly powerhouse.
