Congratulations IOWA and Lizs!!!

Too bad you weren’t there Lizs, it was a great time. It was fun seeing knots of orange and blue, and black and yellow before and after the game. People were tailgating and having a good time together. We talked with Iowa fans before, during, and after the game. All were nice folks and we all had a great time. Well, they had a better time than we did. But the weather was great (about 75 at kickoff I would guess) for shorts and a T-shirt. All of the Iowa fans kept talking about how lovely the weather was. I’ll bet they had a great time while they were here. But unfortunately for them, they all had to go back to Iowa.


Man, if any of us bowl betters had picked Iowa to win the Outback Bowl instead of Florida, they would be a GENIUS! A GENIUS I tell you. They would have to be recognized as being a brilliant college football bowl picker and would DEFINITLY need to be at Sipsey to regale us with profound insights.


Buddha’s got to be proud of OSU. They looked great against K State.


I am a sorry dude. No, really, sorrier than usual. New Years Day. The biggest bowl day of the year. A day to sit in front of the tube, grow roots out your butt, and watch college football in all its glory. You know what I did after we left the Outback Bowl? We shopped for a new outfit for Denise before going to out to dinner. Shooot, just call me pumpkin.

Let's see, Florida basically spent bowl season at home and Tennesse spent bowl season in Atlanta. Those are some pretty excititing trips. Honolulu will do.

Auburn looked good.
LSU should be #1 because of strength of schedule, but USC did a good job dismantling Michigan.
Jayhawks will have a tougher time getting to a bowl next year because they play OK, OK St, and TX.

“Check out my webshots album. I have a "Visual Map for March" album. It's titled something like that and shows some pics from my dayhike last Thur. Basically, we're basecamping about 1.5 miles off trail. Each day we'll explore different canyons. I have an album that is something like "Sipsey in Feb" that would somewhat be like what we'll be doing. I also took some pics this weekend that weren't posted of some Indian cave petroglyphs. They are carvings into stone. Pretty impressive”

Ahhh yes. Another banner year for the SEC

1. Most importantly the football god title rests, once again, firmly in the grasp of the SEC.


2. Of the three strongest conferences:

The big 10 went 3 for 8
The big 12 went 2 for 8
The SEC went 5 for 7


3. In head to head matchups:

SEC vs. big 10- the SEC was 2 of 3
SEC vs. big 12- the SEC was 3 of 3

The SEC continues to widen its head-to-head lead over those conferences.


4. Since 1992 the SEC has had 4 DIFFERENT teams win national chumpionships:

Bama- 1992
Florida- 1996
Tennessee- 1998
LSU- 2003

The other conferences have had national chumpionships won by their usual suspects; the one or two teams that dominate those conferences. No other conference has had more than 2 DIFFERENT teams win titles.


Next year the amnesia starts all over again as we have to listen to big 12 and big 10 fans talk about how good their conferences are. Denial, denial, denial. Thank God that nobody in their right mind would ever talk about the ACC as being a good conference. Now that Miami joins, the ACC becomes a 2-team conference instead of a 1-team conference.
