UGA preseason ranking is #3 nationwide and starters that we return are 10 on offense, 6 on defense, and a punter. David Pollack a defensive end has 37 tackles for a LOSS, and 21.5 sacks in the last two years. Just too bad he's a senior. Hope he gives them hell this year.”

“My opinion of Fulmer's decision (actually I believe it was an NCAA/UT decision) has really began to change after hearing more commentary from other news reporters and fans from outside the state of TN and AL. Reality is that the SEC Media Days in B'ham had become, as Gallion bragged about on a bamer talk show, the perfect stage to promote his case on a national stage. A problem that Gallion said has been one most difficult obstacle in this lawsuit; no one seems to care. Also, this other Michael Mooreish crap about poor Kevin Burnett and Michael Munoz. They are not children and can answer questions with much more insight than the average media goon has. BTW I thought Media Days were suppose to be about the football team and their players anyways. Another tidbit that the press has seemed to ignore is that Phil will be there by video teleconference. Hopefully, the camera won’t add an additional few pounds.”

Unfortunatly the Irish have not been able to live up to much the last few years. Those were always good games when the 2 teams faced off.”

I would never have believed, in my lifetime, that the University of Memphis would get more votes in the preseason poll than did some like:

Arkansas
Alabama
Notre Dame
Arizona
Washington

It is fun to be in a city that has been as football deprived as this city and see the excitement the Tigers have built here. People are energized, I see more people wearing U of M apparel than ever before, and there is so much more hope for a good season than I have seen here in 20 years.

Gosh shep, the odds for that coin toss seem to be a litle skewed. 13 of the last 14 coin tosses have gone Florida's way. I remember the 80's when the odds were skewd in favor of the dawgs. Overall, that coin had been weighted pretty heavily for jawja.

This may be jawja's year. Then again, last year was supposed to be their year, and the year before that, and the year before that...

I suspect that jawja may get lucky this year. Then again, who knows how that coin will fall. As always, that game is Florida's main rivalry. The dawgs have been humble in defeat, I hope that they can be gracious winners. The winners of that game can really get obnoxious. I've heard some sad observations on some Florida fan behavior, from other Florida fans, over the last decade. I remember jawja fan behavior during the 80's. I don't like to see a good rivalry spoiled by poor sportsmanship.

I hope jawja has a fine year with a tough schedule. If the dawgs do well in the polls, they will have earned it by playing tough teams.”

Joy, joy, joy! My local sports page will have lots of coverage. We always get at least three front page articles on college football. When the season starts, half of the entire sports section is devoted to college football.

I pity the fool who lives in a large pro market like NY/NJ. They ain't got no satisfaction, or information about college football.

Pro sports are relegated to a very small portion of of our sports section once college football starts. AND THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE!!”

Florida has officially been classified a college football dynasty by the NCAA in its annual record book publication, one of only a few schools to ever receive that rare and elite distinction.

Nine times in the last 20 years UF has finished first in the SEC standings, including seven of the past 14 years.

Florida is one of only two schools in the nation to appear in a January bowl game in each of the last 11 seasons and the only school in SEC history to appear in a January bowl game for 11 consecutive seasons.

Florida is the only team in SEC history, and one of only four in major college history, to finish in the top 15 of the polls for 12 straight years.

A national survey by The Sporting News in 1999, which ranked schools in the combined areas of success, graduation rates, title IX compliance and their overall commitment to excellence, ranked Florida among the nation’s elite schools. Florida was joined in the top five by Penn State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Stanford.

The University of Florida athletic program has ranked among the 10 most successful in the nation in each of the last 21 years. Florida and UCLA are the only two athletic departments to be ranked among the nation’s top 10 during that time.

Florida was recognized with a 2002 Academic Achievement Award by the American Football Coaches Association in the Spring of 2002. Seventy-four percent of all athletes from Florida’s 1996-97 freshman class have graduated.
