Is Matt censoring thread titles?

“Yes, I did some editing this morning. When the thread first started, I didn't like the title and hoped it would die down quickly. So people stopped posting on it and it went away. But when I checked the posts this morning and saw the nice exercises thread, I felt that a little clean up was in order. So that is why I tried to tame the title of the crack baby thread a little.”

One of my concerns are the number of minors who are regulars and lurkers on this website. IMHO, it is not very appropriate to attract them (and others) in on the pretense of backpacking, and then giving them heavy sexual content.”

Not only do you have to consider the minors that come to this site but also the adults that come here and would be offended by such drival. There are other sites where you can discuss these issues if you like and be sure of a like minded audience.”

“I'm not familiar with the two threads that y'all have mentioned. The crack baby title was a no-brainer - I never even bothered to open that one. I never saw the "exensize" (as Belle would say) thread title.

Some topics and language are simply unacceptable in public, IMHO, and that would certainly apply to a website (especially one pertaining to a family oriented activity such as backpacking).

Steve Hiker, et al, should have the decency to keep things in perspective.

This is not a public forum protected by first amendment rights. This is a private forum that exists by the sweat of someone else's work. Not, certainly, by any of your effort.

This is Matt's clubhouse. He has made it available to all of us to play in. He doesn't have a "cover" charge, but instead allows advertisers to hang their billboards on the wall and flash advertisments at us. If he sees a fight in the corner, or a drug deal going down, or someone gets too rowdy . . .he asks them to leave, or,(since we are in cyber world) he simply deletes the offensive material.

If you don't like it. Leave.

“I'm a whiney-butted, fly-fishing, backpacker. Read Ryan Jordan's website about stealth camping in Yellowstone. Stealth fly fishing: light-weight pack rod, a few flys, lite-pack, etc., and trot up the trail along a stream. Then spend the rest of the day creeping up upstream and dropping flys into the riffles and pools from below. The cutthroat are really spooky so you can't let them see you. It's a big game; you catch them, throw them back and play again. I haven't tried camo and face paint; that seems to militia-like to me. Now, back to the #@?!%!! thread.”
