Screw 'em. Wear lots of tourquoise and silver and tell em you're from Arizona. You'll be the life of the party.

I've seen it run the gamment. Most have been at least tie and jacket.

I agree with Aero, its more fun that way. My neice is from Phoenix and went to Fordham. They thought everybody in AZ was a cowboy and lived on ranches. This was in the past 5 years, smart kids from wealthy families. Go figure.

Was the wedding at Hooter's?

Its hot and HUMID in the East.
If you think 80-90 ain't bad, guess again.
Don't wear hose, just let them legs show.
Women in the East don't shave their legs.
Leave your six-shooter in Azz.

Other than that, shucks, women can get away with wearing most anything.

Where is the wedding?

Hey Biz! If its outdoors, I go for the floral dress look. Indoors and I go for black. Black rocks!

Black is fine for most evening wear, but for a wedding I would go with a lighter colored dress or suit.

I don't even own a black dress

Robert Plant.....still alive???

Utica, NY....hmmm
The weather could go either way that far north.
You can count on the humidity though.
The nights could cool off.

A nice summer dress would be OK.
Black!?!?!?
The "little black number", though cute on the right woman, seems like such a cliche'.

Will you be trollin' fer a stud-muffin?

Tell them Arizona is still a territory. I swear to God, I've been out East quite a few times and people still think Montana is everything from a territory to a Canadian Province! Some just had a vacant look and said, "that's one of those big, square states, right?" That one was at Dartmouth!

New Mexico Magazine has a section called "One of Our Fifty is Missing" because such stories are so common. New Mexico is frequently left off of maps, with Texas running to AZ or the reverse. I even put NM, USA on my mail etc. to avoid the problem. New Mexico, USA is also on our license plates for the same reason.

RE: Totally Unrelated to Backpacking
ps: what's the bride wearing. Is it morning, afternoon or night, what are the groomsmen wearing, etc etc.

Afternoon wedding with the groomsman in blazers and khakis is different than evening wedding with groomsman in tuxes.

Tom T. may be right on this one if you can't get clearer idea fromthe folks in Utica

Biz, you wrote "Utica", what does that mean? Is the wedding in Utica, upstate NY?

Usually a night time affair with an expensive place for the reception means it's very formal, but never outdress the bride. Do not wear white; I'm not sure about black since it's a standard funeral color.

I'd buy something that's simple, and looks pretty, something to compliment my figure, but not too tight. The bride is the focus.

I'm packing a lobster bib, %^) .

I agree with Aero--dress spiffed-up Western (new hat, a nice embroidered bolero jacket with matching skirt, finest turqoise bangles, and your best snakeskin boots). They can see Eastern every day.

Black is okay for wedddings. The standard little black dress is fitting for all occasions. Just don't wear a little hat with a black veil over your eyes with it! DO wear hose unless it's a barbeque! Have fun!

RE: Totally Unrelated to Backpacking
Most weddings in my part of the east coast are formal. Ladies wear long sleeveless muted floral or solid color dresses, pale suits with feminine blouses, or any other summer formal dress, but not too loud. Cleavage is fine, lol. Weddings that are not in the summer usually have people wearing darker and brighter colors. That said, you can still wear anything that you have that gives a dressy impression. Remember that the AC in the restaurant might be really cranked up. Have a great time!

I vote for hip hugger bell bottoms, a baggy shirt, beads, head band, and earth shoes. (Remember them?)

Do you think there is a reason my kids don't trust my fashion sense?

Biz, what on earth did you wear? You didn't have one simple dress that you could add a scarf to?

A New York way of speaking is "Howya doin". We tend to run words together. Also, upstate NY, Utica is colder than NYC. Wasn't the reception inside? At least now it's over.
