Description

Greetings! Meet around 10:30AM Saturday, July 8th at trailhead of Wildcat Hollow@Wayne National Forest for an overnighter. Total trail length (loop) is about 13 Miles. Southeast Ohio (Perry & Morgan Counties) hiking with its hills and forests. Some remnants of structures from farming and oil wells can be seen along the trail today. Camping is permitted anywhere along the trail.

Here are some directions (From Ramey's 50 Hikes in Ohio Book, Hike #34):

To reach Wildcat Hollow from the central Ohio area, travel US 33 southeast to Nelsonville. Take OH 78 east to Glouster, and then turn left (north) onto OH 13 and travel 5 miles to Township Road 289. Turn right (east) there and follow the forest service signs for 3 miles to the trailhead, using Irish Ridge & Dew Roads. The drive takes about 2 hours from Columbus.

From Cleveland, travel I-77 south to I-70. Take I-70 west to exit 154 in Zanesville. Turn south on OH 60, then turn onto southbound OH 93 in Zanesville. When OH 93 intersects OH 13, 21 miles south of Zanesville, turn left (south) on OH 13. Take it 13.5 miles to Township Road 289, turn left, and follow signs as in the instructions for drives coming from Columbus. This distance from Cleveland is about 180 miles.

From Cincinnati, tavel OH 32 east to Athens. Take US 33 north to Nelsonville, OH 78 east to Glouster, and OH 13 north to reach Township Road 289, also a trip distance of about 180 miles.

Wildcat Hollow is adjacent to Burr Oak State Park, which has its own hiking & backpacking trails -for those who are interested in more. The park also has a lodge, cottages, and campground for those who desire a longer stay in the area. Here's some links:
