Description11/13/2006 Update: Visual Trip Report *************************************** Trip Planning Record Plan is to bushwhack into Eagle Creek Friday morning for basecamp and then spend the remaining time exploring Eagle, Hemlock, Fernglade and Little Ugly Creeks. Waterfall/cascade potential density and ease of travel factor for this trip are both rather high based on preliminary observations (precip permitting of course). Car to basecamp is well under a mile (.7ish) on the proposed route, about half of which is a fairly well-traveled footpath and the other half rather ?light? bushwhacking (at least until the upcoming hurricane season). Campsite capacity is plentiful and hammocks are encouraged. 09/19/06 Update: A reminder that despite my somewhat "easy" description above, this is primarily an off trail/bushwhacking trip in potentially challenging terrain. If you would like to join us but do not have the off trail navigation experience/skills necessary to make your way to basecamp and back to your vehicle, shoot me an email or post to the trip thread and we'll try to make some arrangements for you to meet another member of the party at the "trailhead". 9/26/06 Update: Park to Camp Zoomed In Map:  Larger Eagle Creek Parking and Basecamp Map Coordinates in NAD27 Central datum: Parking - N34 16.872 W87 26.698 Basecamp - N34 17.290 W87 26.774ā€¯ The parking area is 2.9 miles west of the Sipsey Rec Area bridge on Hwy 6/Cranal Rd. 10/30/2006 Update: For those coming in after dark (or any other time for that matter), we'll periodically check FRS channel 1 for communications.
