Description

Dust off your skis and snowshoes, Winterfest 2007 is happening!

Come join us for some hardy partying and snowcamping this New Years in Lassen Volcanic Park.

The Tipi and stove will be up Saturday and Sunday night for celebrating and telling tales. We are currently planing to be up there from the night of the 29th, through the first. Those dates may be extended a day or so, but right now thats the plan.

This is a great trip for those wanting to learn more about winter camping...... easy access, only 2 miles to camp, a heated, walk in tent for conversation and plenty of folks to compare notes on tents, sleeping bags, snow shelters and the like. There is plenty for all to do while up there too, great ski runs off Loomis, incredible snowshoeing/ski terrain around Hoodoo and Manzanita Creek, quick access to Lassen peak and 3, level 5 Geocaches.

In the event there is not enough snow, we are keeping the option open of moving camp.

Camp will be located near Silver Snag or the 2004 site (seen on map) I will post GPS coordinates and we will flag the final location should it not be exactly at Silver Snag. We will have the exact location posted the last couple weeks. Don't worry, it will be well marked.

**Update on Wilderness Permit info**
Self registration is now allowed at the North side of Lassen Park. One location will be at the entrance station to Manzanita Lake.

You will find them behind the stop sign on the right.

I recommend you use Silver Snag @ Manzanita Creek as a camp site location and Manzanita Lake as the start location.

Chain requirements for 44 can be found HERE
The road through the park is NOT open.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

UPDATE INFO...
If you have an FRS Radio set it to 7/0, we will be monitoring that frequency.

Approximate coords for Silver Snag are...
40° 30.851 N
121° 33.018 W
NAD83/WGS84
