trips - Catskills Winter Slog IITrip Info
DescriptionArrive Friday night. Set up camp at the Blackbear Campground right in Phoenicia. It will be $20 per person (includes 2 nights, showers, bathrooms, firewood and easy access to the town itself). Head into downtown (if you can say that) Phoenicia for a Capitol or two or three or four.... Saturday morning drop car off below Sherrill and then shuttle over to Devils Path Trailhead. We will hike up the Devils Path to where the sharp left turn is located and from there climb up to North Dome, descend down into the Col and up to Sherrill and from there descend down vehicle located below Sherrill. Then we will drive over to base of Halcott and hike up and back to and from Halcott. From there we will head back to camp for an evening of story telling, laughter and camp refreshments. Pehaps head back into Phoenicia for more capitols, 2, 3, 4... Sunday morning, grab a quick breakfast (maybe in Hunter at the Bagel Shop), climb up into col between Vly and Bearpen and bag the respective peaks. Sunday afternoon, drive home. The peaks in question are trailess, but the mileage is low, although, snowwy conditions could make things interesting.  above is a link to Pennsy's Vly/Bearpen Map on Webshots.
