DescriptionStarting on August 4th, hike in to the JMT from Onion Valley CG. Then down the JMT to Whitney Portal. Hooking up with Gemini and Jackstraw on their thru-hike. Wife and i will be driving in from Vegas on Aug 2, camping out in onion valley for a couple nites. From whitney portal I'll be driving back to vegas, dropping off JS and Gem at Lancaster. ONION VALLEY CAMPGROUND SITE 16 Aug 2 drive vegas to onion valley CG (9,200') Aug 3 hang out, horseback riding, fishing, dayhiking, acclimating, whatever Aug 4, 6 miles (resupply gemini and jackstraw) onion valley to kearsarge Pass (+2,600) to kearsarge lakes (-800) Aug 5, 6 miles to center basin junction (-1,000) Aug 6, 9 miles to forester pass (+3,200) to tyndall creek CA (-2,400) Aug 7, 12 miles to guitar lake (+600) Aug 8, 10 miles to mt whitney (+3,000) to trail camp (-2,500) Aug 9, 7 miles to whitney portal (-3,300) Aug 10 drive back to vegas via lancaster
