trips - TRAIL DAYS 2007Trip Info
DescriptionWell here it is again , TRAIL DAYS 2007, May 18th through the 20th. New camping area for the backpacker.com/ TTer's. I volunteered to help out in a campground expansion at the existing camp ground, and was honored to work with LOCAL (trail name) who is a member of Trail talk and is a big supporter for the town of Damascus and TRAIL DAYS. He and the Trail Days committee has opened up a much bigger area, WOODED , more like a real camping area, and given all TTer's the pick of all the area. I walked the entire area with LOCAL and picked an area next to the RIVER, close to the BON FIRE, and easily acessable to the SHOWERS. Plenty of room and plenty of trees, no caming in a field with a swamp floor. This area has good drainage and is the best spot on the entire camp ground. All you Hammock Hangers, bringum......we gots the trees. To find this area for those who have been here before it's easy.....same direction, just continue on past where we camped in the past straight into to the woods, don't turn left or right. you will see a BIG SIGN TTER;s. yep in the wood line next to the river. Plenty of Fire Wood and plenty of space. Those comming for the first time, enter the main gate and go straight ahead. Follow this open roadish trail for approx 80 yards and continue on into the wood line. Camp will be a stone throw away, and the River is,well it's right there as well. You can get info about Trail Days at www.Traildays.info/ I have breakfast already set up for everyone on May 20th SUNDAY MORNING when the last big party night hits you. You just gotta roll out of your fart sacks. Bring your Trekking Poles, stoves, anything needing sewn or repaired, there will be free repairs as usual, and free gear give aways. I my self won a backpack, several hats, Mountain House Foods, and lots of free spirits. I guarantee you will leave with something and have a great time.
