Description

The fabled 100-Mile Wilderness portion of the
Appalachian Trail is the longest stretch of
uninterruptedwilderness on the entire Appalachian
Trail.
This narrow protected corridor winds through deep wild forests, over jagged peaks with spectacular views, and around pristine lakes and remote ponds.  It hosts some of the highest concentrations of rare plants and animals, outstanding wild fisheries, old-growth and mature forest stands, and undeveloped ponds in Maine.

So the plan is to start at the south end in Monson and head north to Abol Bridge. Hopefull we will have a couple of cars to do the shuttle.

Shaws will pick us up and drive us from Abol Bridge back to Monson for $100 per car full.
The Bunkhouse costs $21.50 per person and an all you can eat breakfast is $6.50
If we drove up on a Friday did the car shuffle back to monson we could stay at the shaws lodge or camp on their grounds. We will either have to work out reservations for Baxter or somewhere outside of the park. There are several cabin camps on the park borders.

13. 9 Saturday Wilson valley LT no elevation above 1400'

15.6 to Chairback LT lots of ups and downs 2600'

9.9 Monday to Carl T. Newhall LT with a possible addition of 5.5 for the Gulf Hagas trail realy cool side trip

10.8 Tuesday to East Branch LT up and over White Cap Mtn. 3654' Steep up with 4 peaks then long down!

16 Wensday to Antlers campsite right on Lower Mary Jo Lake NICE SPOT! small 2000' peak and then gradual down hill

3.5 Thursday to whitehouse landing for Lunch

13.6 after lunch to Wadleigh Stream LT

11.9 Friday to Rainbow Spring Campsite another primo spot! Fairly easy hike one 1500' speed bump

Saturday 11.2 and out at Abol Bridge

If we can make better time and get out by Friday it would be nice to be able to summit Katahdin. The last 60 miles of the trail are fairly flat and we should be able to crank out some miles if everyone wants to.
