trips - New Year's Eve on Peter's MountainTrip Info
DescriptionI'm thinking we can meet up on top of the ridge where 225 crosses the AT, drop cars and all shuttle down to Clark's Ferry and head north for a dayhike. The shelter is about two miles from 225 so we can haul all our crap in from there. It would be 10 miles total, mostly level. If the weather is nice we can camp at the overlook about a mile before the shelter. The other option would be to hike in from the game lands parking area @ 325, but there's a section of rocks that is dangerous under good conditions. Crossing that area on ice could be deadly. If the weather is really bad we can just haul in the two miles from 225 and hole up at the shelter. There's other possible options as well. The plan is pretty open. Just be prepared to carry water. The spring is at the bottom of the ridge. The shelter is huge. We could fit a small army inside. There is also a smaller shelter nearby, built by none other than Ed Garvey.
