THIS TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELED. IT HAS BEEN LEFT LISTED IN CASE ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN THE INFORMATION.

I went on the Five Fall Trip as it is referred to in the Trail report and discovered that Even a 17 mile trip over the weekend would be too much for me to handle atm. So this trip has turned into a base camp at the Haystacks with day hike potential on Saturday.

The Haystacks are a mixed blessing. The falls and rapids are exquisite and a proper place for baking on the rocks if the water level is right and the sun out. The downside is there is no campfire allowed any more, period end of discussion. It is patrolled so there is not really any way of cheating that. It seems the party crowd just got too rowdy and the DOF took this measure to try and reduce that.

The Haystacks are a very popular spot for day use. It is open to bicycle use as well as foot travel but the rest of the Loyalsock trail is foot travel only.

Somes Pond is a reasonable distance for a leisurely out and back dayhike. (roughly 7 miles rt.) A kick butt loop could be made using the link trail (roughly 16 miles looped) Or just rest your stumps in the icy water and enjoy the day.

I do need to get a permit for this trip so early sign ups would be appreciated.
